The Lord’s Supper leading to Worship

Frederick Albert Hughes (1890-1988) was well known among the brethren as a man of God who cared deeply for the honour of the Lord Jesus and the preciousness of the saints. His writings reflect his heart for God and His people. In this book he expounds the importance, relevance, meaning and infinite privilege and joy of observing the Lord’s Supper. On the very eve of His betrayal, arrest and crucifixion the Lord Jesus gathered His disciples round Him, and after the Passover Supper He inaugurated this simple memorial of Himself. In the Bread and the Cup He signified that He was about to give Himself — His body and His blood — for us. Then He added, “This do in remembrance of Me”; so ...

Showdown with Iran

The Threat of War with Iran Grows Day by Day Bible prophecy expert Mark Hitchcock, PhD, is noticing a dangerous trend: the nation of Iran remains in the newspaper headlines for all the wrong reasons. In Showdown with Iran, he reveals why this rogue nation is so dangerous and how that connects to what the Bible says about what’s to come while encouraging readers to remain alert, aware, and hopeful as the end times near. He tackles questions such as: Does Iran still plan to wipe Israel off the map? What does this mean for the future of the Middle East? Where does Iran stand in Bible prophecy? What will be the role of the United States in Bible prophecy? The warning of what will happen is not...

Bible Truth or Church Tradition

With an estimated 34,000 Christian denominations around the world all claiming to have the truth, it can be confusing as to whom to believe. Yet, when we turn away from human traditions and creeds and rely solely on the Word of God, our confusion disappears and is replaced with understanding. Bible Truth or Church Tradition documents author Melvin Maxwell’s personal study of the beliefs and doctrines of today’s mainstream churches in an effort to determine which world church adheres most closely to the teachings of the Bible. His discussion of non-biblical traditions within Christianity will make readers think about what they believe and are practicing and if it really follows the Bible.

The Inspiration and Truth of Sacred Scripture

Formally approved by Pope Francis, this present work is the contribution of the Pontifi cal Biblical Commission toward a more adequate understanding of the concepts of inspiration and truth that respects both the nature of the Bible and its signifi cance for the life of the Church. Drawing on a close reading of the Scriptures themselves, the document focuses on three main aspects: 1. The inspiration of Sacred Scripture and the exploration of its divine provenance 2. The truth of the Word of God, emphasizing the message about God and his project of salvation 3. Challenges that arise from the Bible itself, on account of certain aspects that seem inconsistent with its quality of being the Word of God

2020 Reprint of 1926 Editions. Full facsimile of the original editions and not reproduced with Optical Recognition software. This edition includes two titles published into one bound volume. Rutherford Hayes Platt, in the preface to his 1963 reprint of this work, states: "First issued in 1926, this is the most popular collection of apocryphal and pseudepigraphal literature ever published." The translations were first published, under this title, by an unknown editor in The Lost Books of the Bible Cleveland 1926, but the translations had previously been published many times. The book is, essentially, a combined reprint of earlier works. The first half, Lost Books of the Bible, covers the New Testament. The second half of the book, The Forgotten Books of Eden, includes a translation originally published in 1882 of the "First and Second Books of Adam and Eve", translated first from ancient Ethiopic to German and then into English by Solomon Caesar Malan, and a number of items of Old Testament pseudepigrapha, such as reprinted in the second volume of R.H. Charles's Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha of the Old Testament (Oxford, 1913).
