Recent Advances in Natural and Engineering Sciences
In general terms, sustainability is the act of meeting our own needs today without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs (World Commission on Environment and Development, 1987). Obviously, the ability of natural resources and environmental systems to support our needs is limited. erefore, the major challenge for engineers today is to design and/or operate systems that use energy and natural resources sustainably. Designing for the environment is crucial. is book presents the recent engineering approaches to sustainability from research and practice. e chapters included in this volume are from the first International Sustainability Congress organized by Int...
The Role of Exogenous Antioxidants in Enhancing Reproductive Function and Performance, Livre de Lyon
This survey of the use of Fibonacci and Lucas numbers and the ancient principle of the Golden Section covers areas relevant to operational research, statistics, and computational mathematics. 1989 edition.
The International J. Mathematical Combinatorics is a fully refereed international journal, sponsored by the MADIS of Chinese Academy of Sciences and published in USA quarterly, which publishes original research papers and survey articles in all aspects of mathematical combinatorics, Smarandache multi-spaces, Smarandache geometries, non-Euclidean geometry, topology and their applications to other sciences.
This book presents the findings of the RCOG Study Group findings on genetics underlying reproductive function.
In this invaluable book, the basic mathematical properties of the golden ratio and its occurrence in the dimensions of two- and three-dimensional figures with fivefold symmetry are discussed. In addition, the generation of the Fibonacci series and generalized Fibonacci series and their relationship to the golden ratio are presented. These concepts are applied to algorithms for searching and function minimization. The Fibonacci sequence is viewed as a one-dimensional aperiodic, lattice and these ideas are extended to two- and three-dimensional Penrose tilings and the concept of incommensurate projections. The structural properties of aperiodic crystals and the growth of certain biological organisms are described in terms of Fibonacci sequences.

Luminescence Thermometry: Methods, Materials, and Applications presents the state-of-the art applications of luminescence thermometry, giving a detailed explanation of luminescence spectroscopic schemes for the read-out of temperature, while also describing the diverse materials that are capable of sensing temperature via luminescence. Chapters cover the fundamentals of temperature, traditional thermometers and their figures of merit, a concise description of optical thermometry methods, luminescence and instrumentation, and an explanation of the ways in which increases in temperature quench luminescence. Additional sections focus on materials utilized for luminescence thermometry and the br...
