HACK YOUR WORKPLACE CULTURE FOR GREATER PROFITS AND PRODUCTIVITY "I LOVE THIS BOOK!" —CHESTER ELTON, New York Times bestselling author of All In and What Motivates Me "When companies focus on culture, the positive effects ripple outward, benefiting not just employees but customers and profits. Read this smart, engaging book if you want a practical guide to getting those results for your organization." —MARSHALL GOLDSMITH, executive coach and New York Times bestselling author "Most books on customer service and experience ask leaders to focus on the customer first. Punk and Revolution

In Punk and Revolution Shane Greene radically uproots punk from its iconic place in First World urban culture, Anglo popular music, and the Euro-American avant-garde, situating it instead as a crucial element in Peru's culture of subversive militancy and political violence. Inspired by José Carlos Mariátegui's Seven Interpretive Essays on Peruvian Reality, Greene explores punk's political aspirations and subcultural possibilities while complicating the dominant narratives of the war between the Shining Path and the Peruvian state. In these seven essays, Greene experiments with style and content, bends the ethnographic genre, and juxtaposes the textual and visual. He theorizes punk in Lima as a mode of aesthetic and material underproduction, rants at canonical cultural studies for its failure to acknowledge punk's potential for generating revolutionary politics, and uncovers the intersections of gender, ethnicity, class, and authenticity in the Lima punk scene. Following the theoretical interventions of Debord, Benjamin, and Bakhtin, Greene fundamentally redefines how we might think about the creative contours of punk subculture and the politics of anarchist praxis.

The Chicken Thief Soldier

In the Prologue in 1778, a young teenager, Bruce Jenkins, travels to Valley Forge to enlist in the Colonial Army. He finds an army lacking supplies, lacking discipline, and lacking much enthusiasm. Desertions are weakening the army, and hunger is turning many of the men into scavengers and thieves. New orders come from Washington’s Headquarters that deserters and thieves will be shot. Starving and in great pain, Bruce goes hunting food in a nearby farm and is killed. His body is buried on the farm. The theme of the Chicken Thief Soldier, a theme of courage and strength and the dedication of youth, is a strong one, and it is a recurring theme throughout the book. In 1960, during the Thanksg...

We all want a life worth living. The search for ‘the good life’ has been a driving force for humanity throughout history. But what exactly is a ‘good life’? For too long psychologists have concerned themselves solely with helping the mentally unwell – those who suffer from depression, anxiety and a range of other mental health problems. However, psychologists have recently begun to focus on mental health, not just mental ill health, on happiness as well as unhappiness. Drawing on the latest research in the area of positive psychology, and using a practical, down-to-earth style with real-life stories, Shane Martin teaches us how to bolster our mental health in order to be as happy a...
