This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Learning and Optimization, LION 10, which was held on Ischia, Italy, in May/June 2016. The 14 full papers presented together with 9 short papers and 2 GENOPT papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 47 submissions. The papers address all fields between machine learning, artificial intelligence, mathematical programming and algorithms for hard optimization problems. Special focus is given to new ideas and methods; challenges and opportunities in various application areas; general trends, and specific developments.
This book gathers papers presented at the Logistik-Management-Konferenz 2013, which was organized by the VHB Wissenschaftliche Kommission Logistik and held in Bremen, Germany. The papers reflect the current state-of-the-art in logistics and supply chain management, focusing on environmental sustainability in logistics and supply chain network dynamics and control. The target audience primarily consists of researchers and practitioners in the field, but the book may also be beneficial for graduate students.
This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Learning and Optimization, LION 8, which was held in Gainesville, FL, USA, in February 2014. The 33 contributions presented were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in this book. A large variety of topics are covered, such as algorithm configuration; multiobjective optimization; metaheuristics; graphs and networks; logistics and transportation; and biomedical applications.

Operations Research and Cyber-Infrastructure is the companion volume to the Eleventh INFORMS Computing Society Conference (ICS 2009), held in Charleston, South Carolina, from January 11 to 13, 2009. It includes 24 high-quality refereed research papers. As always, the focus of interest for ICS is the interface between Operations Research and Computer Science, and the papers in this volume reflect that interest. This is naturally an evolving area as computational power increases rapidly while decreasing in cost even more quickly, and the papers included here illustrate the wide range of topics at this interface.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 9th European Conference on Evolutionary Computation in Combinatorial Optimization, EvoCOP 2009, held in Tübingen, Germany, in April 2009. The 21 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 53 submissions. The papers present the latest research and discuss current developments and applications in metaheuristics - a paradigm to effectively solve difficult combinatorial optimization problems appearing in various industrial, economical, and scientific domains. Prominent examples of metaheuristics are evolutionary algorithms, simulated annealing, tabu search, scatter search, memetic algorithms, variable neighborhood search, iterated local search, greedy randomized adaptive search procedures, estimation of distribution algorithms and ant colony optimization.
Container Terminals (CT) operate as central nodes in worldwide hub-and-spoke networks and link ocean-going vessels with smaller feeder vessels as well as with inbound and outbound hinterland transportation systems using road, rail, or inland waterways. The volume of transcontinental container flows has gained appreciably over the last five decades -- throughput figures of CT reached new records, frequently with double-digit annual growth rates. Stimulated by throughput requirements and stronger competition between terminals settled in the same region or serving a similar hinterland, respectively, cost efficiency and throughput capabilities become more and more important. Nowadays, both termi...
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 7th International Workshop on Experimental and Efficient Algorithms, WEA 2008, held in Provincetown, MA, USA, in May/June 2008. The 26 revised full papers were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions and present current research on experimental evaluation and engineering of algorithms, as well as in various aspects of computational optimization and its applications. Special focus is put on the use of experimental methods to guide the design, analysis, implementation, and evaluation of algorithms, heuristics, and optimization programs.
This book constitutes the proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Computational Logistics, ICCL 2019, held in Barranquilla, Colombia, in September/October 2019. The 27 papers included in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 49 submissions. They were organized in topical sections named: freight transportation and urban logistics; maritime and port logistics; vehicle routing problems; network design and distribution problems; and selected topics in decision support systems and ICT tools.
