In this second volume, Dr. Cook provides a series of articles that are part of his morning meditations on Scripture. Meditation, in the biblical sense, is an intentional filling of the mind with divine viewpoint; specifically, God’s Word. The purpose is to saturate our thinking with Scripture so that it will permeate all aspects of our reasoning and guide us into God’s will. These articles touch on subjects such as soteriology, grace, worship, righteous living, and character studies of people such as Saul and David. The overall intent of the book is to inform and inspire believers to live righteously before God.
Dr. Steven R. Cook is a Christian educator and has taught undergraduate courses in theology at Tyndale Theological Seminary in Hurst, Texas. He’s also served as an advising professor for online students. He is protestant, conservative, and a traditional dispensationalist. Studies in the original languages of Scripture, ancient history, and systematic theology have been the foundation for Steven’s teaching and writing ministry. He has written several Christian books, dozens of articles on Christian theology, and recorded more than nine hundred hours of audio and video messages. Steven hosts a weekly Bible study at his home in Arlington, Texas, where he records most of the Bible lessons for his podcast and YouTube channel. Steven’s ministry activity is entirely voluntary. Since 2004, he has been in a full-time professional position at a local nonprofit agency that is committed to assisting the elderly and disabled individuals in the community.

Prison society is no better or worse than those inmates who make up its population. As goes the attitudes and actions of inmates, so goes much of the prison culture. The Christian in prison does not have to conform to the evil that often confronts him, but can choose to be a light in a dark place by living for Christ. This requires the discipline necessary to learn God’s Word and the courage to live His will. Where the light of Christ shines, there the soul is free to live and love, even in the midst of spiritual darkness where evil rages against God’s truth. Soteriology is the study of salvation. The word soteriology is derived from the Greek words soter (σωτήρ), which means savior, and logos (λόγος), which means a word about, or the study of something. Soteriology is the sphere of systematic theology that speaks to the nature, means, scope, and purpose of salvation. It is an important theme that runs throughout Scripture and reveals the God who saves. It touches on the attributes of God such as His holiness, righteousness and justice concerning sin, as well as His love, mercy, grace and goodness to save lost sinners who cannot save themselves. Throughout this book, we will examine the roles of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit concerning our salvation. We will also explore the sinfulness of mankind and our total unworthiness to merit salvation by means of our good works.
