The book begins with the previously unpublished transcripts of the broadcasts which cast a unique light on Lowry's art and developing reputation. In addition to all the usual elements of an art historical monograph on this scale, Rosenthal has devoted chapters to Lowry's technique, his visual friendship with his fellow painter David Carr; and a serious analysis and rebuttal of a theory that has advanced the view that Lowry suffered from Asperger's Disease. With 256 illustrations of which 205 are in full colour, Rosenthal's book is, and will remain, an indispensable guide to Lowry's extensive oeuvre and the cultural and psychological forces that shaped it.

Paula Rego

Discussing and illustrating all of Rego’s graphic work spanning half a century, this revised edition offers five new chapters, several revisions, and new Rego images. Many of the greatest artists since Dürer and Rembrandt have used prints to explore their most important ideas. Paula Rego is in this tradition, giving full rein to her imagination in both etching and lithography, and using the media with exuberance to create work that is as disturbing, erotic, and powerful as her paintings. This sumptuously produced book, now expanded and updated and featuring reproductions in color and tritone, discusses and illustrates all of her prints, including unpublished work. The second edition includes chapters on five new series—Moon Eggs, Prince Pig, Wine, Curved Planks, and Beyond Abortion; on works out of series since 2004; and on the influence of playwright Martin McDonagh’s work on Rego. New images, additional entries to the fully illustrated Catalogue Raisonné, and revisions to the chronology, exhibition list, and bibliography make this a unique source of information on a major aspect of this leading artist’s work.

Jack B. Yeats is probably the greatest painter Ireland has ever produced, although he is often overshadowed somewhat by his more famous brother, the poet W. B. Yeats. First published to great acclaim in 1993, this is one of very few popular books on Yeat's work. With more than 100 colour plates and 175 black and white illustrations, it is an authoritative and glorious appreciation of Yeats's vast and varied output.
