RoboCup is an international initiative devoted to advancing the state of the art in artificial intelligence and robotics. The aims of the project and potential research directions are numerous. The ultimate, long-range goal is to build a team of robot soccer players that can beat a human World Cup champion team. This book is the second official archival publication devoted to RoboCup. It documents the achievements presented at the Second International Workshop on RoboCup held in Paris, France, in July 1998. This book contains the invited papers and a selection of research papers submitted to Computer Animation '93, the fifth international workshop on Computer Animation, which was held in Geneva on June 16-18, 1993. EUROGRAPHICS workshops on Graphics hardware have now become an established forum for an exchange of information con cerning the latest developments in this field of growing importance. This book constitutes the proceedings of the 11th RoboCup International Symposium, held in Atlanta, GA, USA, in July 2007, immediately after the 2007 RoboCupSoccer, RoboCupRescue and RoboCupJunior competitions. Papers presented at the symposium focused on topics related to these three events and to artificial intelligence and robotics in general. The 18 revised full papers and 42 revised poster papers included in the book were selected from 133 submissions. Each paper was reviewed by at least three program committee members. The program committee also nominated two papers for the Best Paper and Best Student Paper awards, respectively. The book provides a valuable source of reference and inspiration for R&D professionals and educationalists active or interested in robotics and artificial intelligence.
