We know so much more about the Christian and church life of black Americans than we did even a dozen years ago, but all the recent discoveries whet our insatiable appetites to know it all. That goal will never be attained, of course, but there do remain many conquerable worlds. Sherry Sherrod DuPree set her mind to conquering one of those worlds. She has persisted, with the results detailed here. A huge number of items are available to inform us about Holiness, Pentecostal, and Charismatic congregations and organizations in the African-American Christian community.
All Roads Lead to Serfdom
Liberal democracies are under increasing pressure. Growing discontent about inequality, lack of political participation and identity have rekindled populism and a shift away from liberal values. This book argues that liberalism’s reliance on a utilitarian policy framework has resulted in increased concentrations of power, restricting freedom and equality. It examines five key areas of public policy: monetary policy, private property and liability, the structure of the state, product markets and labour markets. Drawing on the German ordoliberal tradition and its founding principle of the dispersal of power, the book proposes an alternative public policy framework. In doing so, it offers a practical pathway to realign policy making with liberal ideas.

This book is composed of extracts from the Judgment Records of Frederick County, Maryland, from the county's formation in 1748 to 1765. Since the Frederick County Court was the sole governing body of the county, as well as its civil and criminal court, the record of its actions covers every phase of colonial life. Here is reflected not only laws and customs, but humor and tragedy, compassion and cruelty-a daily record, in fact, of events in the life of the inhabitants of this important Maryland county. The records of the proceedings of the County Court (the Judgment Records) deal with a wide range of activities and issues, and therefore a substantial number of Frederick County residents appear in the records, which include orphan, bastardy, and custody cases; civil and criminal suits; and a host of petitions for apprenticeships, articles of indenture, appointments, surveys, and licenses.
