This contributed volume contains the selected and thoroughly reviewed research papers presented at the conference on logistics management LM2015 in Braunschweig, Germany. The conference of the special interest group in logistics of the German Academic Association for Business Research (VHB) was held in conjunction with the special interest group on production of the VHB. Thus, the papers reflect the current state-of-the-art in logistics and supply chain management while focusing especially on aspects of production logistics, i.e., facility layout, inventory management, line configuration, or flexible production.
Operations Research Proceedings 2010
This book contains selected papers from the symposium "Operations Research 2010" which was held from September 1-3, 2010 at the "Universität der Bundeswehr München", Germany. The international conference, which also serves as the annual meeting of the German Operations Research Society (GOR), attracted more than 600 participants from more than thirty countries. The general theme "Mastering Complexity" focusses on a natural component of the globalization process. Financial markets, traffic systems, network topologies and, last but not least, energy resource management, all contain complex behaviour and economic interdependencies which necessitate a scientific solution. Operations Research is one of the key instruments to model, simulate and analyze such systems. In the process of developing optimal solutions, suitable heuristics and efficient procedures are some of the challenges which are discussed in this volume.

About 580 p- ticipants from more than 30 countries presented and listened to nearly 400 talks on a broad range of Operations Research. Operations Research Proceedings 2007
The symposium Operations Research 2007 was held from September 5-7, 2007 at the Saarland University in Saarbru ̈cken. This international conference is at the same time the annual meeting of the German - erations Research Society (GOR). The transition in Germany (and many other countries in Europe) from a production orientation to a service society combined with a continuous demographic change generated a need for intensi?ed Op- ations Research activities in this area. On that account this conference has been devoted to the role of Operations Research in the service industry. The links to Operations Research are manifold and include many di?erent topics which are particularly emphasized in scienti?c sections of OR 2007. More than 420 participants from 30 countries made this event very international and successful. The program consisted of three p- nary,elevensemi-plenaryandmorethan300contributedpresentations, which had been organized in 18 sections. During the conference, the GOR Dissertation and Diploma Prizes were awarded. We congratulate all winners, especially Professor Wolfgang Domschke from the Da- stadt University of Technology, on receiving the GOR Scienti?c Prize Award.
Operational Transportation Planning of Modern Freight Forwarding Companies
Modern freight forwarding companies attempt to cooperate with each other to increase their efficiency. Xin Wang studies the new operational transportation planning problems that arise in the context of cooperation in both static and dynamic scenarios. To achieve the cost-savings embedded in cooperation, novel planning approaches that can help forwarders obtaining high-quality solutions are proposed. Computational studies show considerable benefits that can be achieved through cooperation.
Multi-Project Management with a Multi-Skilled Workforce
This book covers three fundamental problems at the interface of multi-project management and human resource management: the selection of projects, the composition of small project teams, and workload leveling. Matthias Walter proposes optimization models and solution methods for these problems, assuming multi-skilled workers with heterogeneous skill levels. For the first time, the author presents exact and heuristic methods that support managers to form small teams. Additionally, he outlines a new skill chaining strategy that increases workforce flexibility.

Consequently, research for methods improving the efficient use of renewable resources in production processes with by-products is crucial. The aim is cascade utilization, thus the multiple utilization of a raw material before its conversion into energy. The International Conference on Resource Efficiency in Interorganizational Networks (ResEff) brings together interdisciplinary researchers developing strategies and solution concepts for efficient resource utilization. It is therefore a platform for scientific exchange both between experts as well as interdisciplinary groups from agricultural and forestry science, mathematical optimization, operations research, marketing, business informatics, production and logistics. The following facets of the challenging topic of resource efficiency in interorganizational networks are covered: Materials, technologies, planning of production and value-added networks for renewable resources as well as governance, coordination and sale of products from renewable resources.
Job Shop Scheduling with Consideration of Due Dates
Jens Kuhpfahl analyzes the job shop scheduling problem with minimizing the total weighted tardiness as objective. First, he provides a suitable graph representation based on a disjunctive graph formulation. Second, several key components of local search procedures are analyzed and enhanced. The resulting outputs of these investigations contribute to the development of a new solution procedure whose performance quality leads to superior computational results.
