This book presents the abstracts of the 19th International Congress of Heterocyclic Chemistry (19th ICHC) held in Fort Collins, Colorado, 10-15th August 2003 and provides the reader with a topical comprehensive reference source covering the latest developments in the heterocycles area. Each lecture from the 19th ICHC is presented as a one page abstract containing a textual summary of the lecture, including references, figures and contact details of the author(s).Papers are divided into the following sections: heterocyclic natural products, heterocycles in organic synthesis, bioactive heterocycles, heterocyclic materials &related topics, heterocyclic pharmaceuticals. The book of abstracts provides a topical reference source covering the latest developments in the heterocyles area.
Ionic liquids continue to attract a great deal of research attention in an even increasing number of areas, including more traditional areas such as synthesis (organic and materials) and physical properties studies and predictions, as well as less obvious areas such as lubrication and enzymatic transformations. In this volume, recent advances in a number of these different areas are reported and reviewed, thus granting some appreciation for the future that ionic liquids research holds, and affording inspiration for those who have not previously considered the application of ionic liquids in their area of interest.
In Future Directions in Biocatalysis the important topics within biocatalysis and enzymatic catalysis for organic synthesis are described for both experts and non-experts. This books focuses particularly on reactions under development at present and on future advances in the field. Consisting of four sections, this book examines enzymatic reactions under unusual conditions, unique biocatalytic reactions, synthesis of valuable compounds using biocatalysis and the latest molecular biology methods for biocatalysis. Each chapter deals with a specific theme and includes a summary of each area as well as the present state and future direction of research.* Describes methods for solving environmental issues through biocatalysis* Presents the integrated fields of biochemistry and organic chemistry* Unique research topics with high originality
This book highlights recently discovered aspects of “middle-size molecules,” focusing on (1) their unique bio-functions on the basis of derivatives and conjugates of natural products, saccharides, peptides, and nucleotides; (2) the synthesis of structurally complex natural products; (3) special synthetic methods for π-conjugated functional molecules; and (4) novel synthetic methods using flow chemistry. Given its scope, the book is of interest to industrial researchers and graduate students in the fields of organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and materials science.
