La firma del acuerdo para la terminación del conflicto armado, la apertura económica, la adopción de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible, la firma del Acuerdo de París para el Cambio Climático y el ingreso de Colombia a la Organización para la Cooperación y el Desarrollo Económico, configuran un escenario con importantes retos y profundas transformaciones del territorio nacional para los próximos 30 años. En este contexto, surge el debate sobre la necesidad de planificar ciudades y territorios que cuenten con las capacidades para responder a los requerimientos sociales, económicos, culturales, geográficos y demográficos del país.
