Non-scribal Communication Media in the Bronze Age Aegean and Surrounding Areas
This volume is intended to be the first in a series that will focus on the origin of script and the boundaries of non-scribal communication media in proto-literate and literate societies of the ancient Aegean. Over the last 30 years, the domain of scribes and bureaucrats has become much better known. Our goal now is to reach below the élite and scribal levels to interface with non-scribal operations conducted by people of the ‘middling’ sort. Who made these marks and to what purpose? Did they serve private or (semi-) official roles in Bronze Age Aegean society? The comparative study of such practices in the contemporary East (Cyprus, Anatolia, the Levant, and Egypt) can shed light on sub-elite activities in the Aegean and also provide evidence for cultural and economic exchange networks.

Società multiculturali e percorsi di integrazione
Governing the complexity of contemporary multicultural societies poses major challenges and a constant tension between substantial equality, the right to difference and social order. Tools, paths and strategies to integrate different communities and individuals within the same horizon of rights and duties are essential to give life to new types of citizenship and to a new sense of belonging. The volume aims to open a critical reflection on the subject, allowing to combine the theoretical horizon with the effectiveness of the law, by analysing four relevant experiences in the European panorama: United Kingdom, France, Germany and Italy. Con questo IV volume della serie espressione della Scuola di Specializzazione in Beni Archeologici del nostro Ateneo, si è potuta ripristinare una continuità, sia pure ad ampia periodicità, che la redazione intende consolidare con una partecipazione dell’intera ‘comunità’ della Scuola (pure mantenendo centrale lo ‘spazio’ riservato agli allievi). I saggi qui presentati, appartenenti a tutti i curricula diacronici presenti nella Scuola (pre-protostorico, orientalistico, classico, medievista), fanno emergere alcune tendenze, fra le quali (in inspiegabile controtendenza, di questi tempi) la crescita d’interesse per l’archeologia islamica, la raggiunta piena trasversalità dell’archeologia pubblica o la conferma dell’articolazione delle tematiche che caratterizzano dalla fondazione il settore classico. Si conferma inoltre la varietà delle provenienze degli allievi, sia come formazione di base sia come matrice accademica, a conferma di una buona rispondenza della Scuola alle esigenze e alle attese attuali.
