This book constitutes the proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Smart Computing and Communication, SmartCom 2022, held in New York City, NY, USA, during November 18–20, 2022. The 64 papers included in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 312 submissions. SmartCom 2023 focus on recent booming developments in Web-based technologies and mobile applications which have facilitated a dramatic growth in the implementation of new techniques, such as cloud computing, edge computing, big data, pervasive computing, Internet of Things, security and privacy, blockchain, Web 3.0, and social cyber-physical systems. The conference gathered all high-quality research/industrial papers related to smart computing and communications and aimed at proposing a reference guideline for further research.
The National Science Foundation funded the first Coordination Theory and Collaboration Technology initiative to look at systems that support collaborations in business and elsewhere. This book explores the global revolution in human interconnectedness. It will discuss the various collaborative workgroups and their use in technology. The initiative focuses on processes of coordination and cooperation among autonomous units in human systems, in computer and communication systems, and in hybrid organizations of both systems. This initiative is motivated by three scientific issues which have been the focus of separate research efforts, but which may benefit from collaborative research. The first...
This is the first book to provide an in-depth coverage of all the developments, issues and challenges in secure databases and applications. It provides directions for data and application security, including securing emerging applications such as bioinformatics, stream information processing and peer-to-peer computing. Divided into eight sections,
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 20th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, ER 2001, held in Tokohama, Japan, in November 2001. The 45 revised full papers presented together with three keynote presentations were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 197 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on spatial databases, spatio-temporal databases, XML, information modeling, database design, data integration, data warehouse, UML, conceptual models, systems design, method reengineering and video databases, workflows, web information systems, applications, and software engineering.
Provides an up-to-date analysis of big data and multi-agent systems The term Big Data refers to the cases, where data sets are too large or too complex for traditional data-processing software. With the spread of new concepts such as Edge Computing or the Internet of Things, production, processing and consumption of this data becomes more and more distributed. As a result, applications increasingly require multiple agents that can work together. A multi-agent system (MAS) is a self-organized computer system that comprises multiple intelligent agents interacting to solve problems that are beyond the capacities of individual agents. Modern Big Data Architectures examines modern concepts and ar...
This volume gathers selected, peer-reviewed original contributions presented at the International Conference on Computational Vision and Bio-inspired Computing (ICCVBIC) conference which was held in Coimbatore, India, on November 29-30, 2018. The works included here offer a rich and diverse sampling of recent developments in the fields of Computational Vision, Fuzzy, Image Processing and Bio-inspired Computing. The topics covered include computer vision; cryptography and digital privacy; machine learning and artificial neural networks; genetic algorithms and computational intelligence; the Internet of Things; and biometric systems, to name but a few. The applications discussed range from security, healthcare and epidemic control to urban computing, agriculture and robotics. In this book, researchers, graduate students and professionals will find innovative solutions to real-world problems in industry and society as a whole, together with inspirations for further research.
Welcome to the Advanced Workshop on Content Computing 2004. The focus of this workshop was "Content Computing". It emphasized research areas that facilitate efficient, appropriate dissemination of content to users with the necessary access rights. We use the word "content" instead of "information" or "data" because we want to cover not only raw data but also presentation quality. The fast growth of the Internet has already made it the key infrastructure for information dissemination, education, business and entertainment. While the client-server model has been the most widely adopted paradigm for the WWW, the desire to provide more value-added services in the delivery layer has led to the conc...
This book constitutes selected and revised papers from the First Silicon Valley Cybersecurity Conference, held in San Jose, USA, in December 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the conference was held in a virtual format. The 9 full papers and 6 short papers presented in this volume were thoroughly reviewed and selected from 30 submissions. They present most recent research on dependability, reliability, and security to address cyber-attacks, vulnerabilities, faults, and errors in networks and systems.
This volume contains papers from the OOPSLA-93 Conference Workshop on Security for Object-Oriented Systems, held in Washington DC, USA, on 26 September 1993. The workshop addressed the issue of how to introduce an acceptable level of security into object-oriented systems, as the use of such systems becomes increasingly widespread. The topic is approached from two different, but complementary, viewpoints: the incorporation of security into object-oriented systems, and the use of object-oriented design and modelling techniques for designing secure applications. The papers cover a variety of issues, relating to both mandatory and discretionary security, including security facilities of PCTE, information flow control, the design of multilevel secure data models, and secure database interoperation via role translation. The resulting volume provides a comprehensive overview of current work in this important area of research.
The International conference series on Computer Science, Engineering & Applications (ICCSEA) aims to bring together researchers and practitioners from academia and industry to focus on understanding computer science, engineering and applications and to establish new collaborations in these areas. The Second International Conference on Computer Science, Engineering & Applications (ICCSEA-2012), held in Delhi, India, during May 25-27, 2012 attracted many local and international delegates, presenting a balanced mixture of intellect and research both from the East and from the West. Upon a strenuous peer-review process the best submissions were selected leading to an exciting, rich and a high quality technical conference program, which featured high-impact presentations in the latest developments of various areas of computer science, engineering and applications research.
