Springer Handbook of Condensed Matter and Materials Data

Springer Handbook of Condensed Matter and Materials Data provides a concise compilation of data and functional relationships from the fields of solid-state physics and materials in this 1200 page volume. The data, encapsulated in 914 tables and 1025 illustrations, have been selected and extracted primarily from the extensive high-quality data collection Landolt-Börnstein and also from other systematic data sources and recent publications of physical and technical property data. Many chapters are authored by Landolt-Börnstein editors, including the prominent Springer Handbook editors, W. Martienssen and H. Warlimont themselves. The Handbook is designed to be useful as a desktop reference fo...

In subvolume 27F1 the magnetic properties of AMO3 - type and of (AR)MO3 - type perovskite oxides (A = alkaline-earth metal, M = d transition element, R = rare earth element) have been compiled. In some aspects this volume is a supplement to the previously published survey in Landolt-Börnstein of J.B. Goodenough and J.M. Longo Vol. III/4a (1970) and S. Nomura Vol. III/12a (1978). However this volume III/27F1 presents in itself a comprehensive state of the knowledge of the magnetic and magnetism-related properties of the considered compounds.

The second edition of this well-received handbook is the most concise yet comprehensive compilation of materials data. The chapters provide succinct descriptions and summarize essential and reliable data for various types of materials. The information is amply illustrated with 900 tables and 1050 figures selected primarily from well-established data collections, such as Landolt-Börnstein, which is now part of the SpringerMaterials database. The new edition of the Springer Handbook of Materials Data starts by presenting the latest CODATA recommended values of the fundamental physical constants and provides comprehensive tables of the physical and physicochemical properties of the elements. 2...

In volume III/21 a compilation is given of all reported experimental data on superconducting materials from the discovery of this phenomenon. The data presented include not only the superconducting properties related to a given material, but also the full metallurgical and crystallographical characterization. The compilation is not restricted to the superconducting properties, but is extended to other low temperature physical properties, which are explicitly given in a particular column. All substances are arranged alphabetically by the base element, i.e. the element with the highest concentration in an alloy or compound. Only original and critically reviewed experimental data are retained.

Interactions of Deuterons, Tritons, and 3He-nuclei with Nuclei

The precise knowledge of production cross sections for specific radionuclides for medium energies (10 MeV to 100 GeV) of the incident particle gains ever more importance, not only for nuclear physics but also for many applications, e.g. astrophysics, radiation protection at accelerators but also on space flights, radioisotope techniques in medicine and for industrial applications and perhaps even for the removal of nuclear waste by accelerators. Since the last systematic review of these production cross sections in 1973 (LB I/5a, b, c) an impressive amount of new experimental data has been accumulated. In the present subvolume data for the production of radioisotopes by medium energetic deuterons, tritons and 3He-nuclei on various targets are presented in tables and figures, the latter showing the general trend of the cross sections and can be more readily used for interpolations. The origin of the authors made it possible to include data from the former USSR and other East European states which sometimes are not easy to access. The tables and figures have been compiled with extraordinary care and should present the most complete compilation for this type of nuclear reactions.

For many applications powder metallurgy (PM) is the only way to economically produce so-called impossible materials e.g. homogenous fine grained immiscible materials, nanomaterials, highly alloyed segregation free tool steels or nickel base alloys, functionally graded materials, bonded hard materials or rare earth hard magnets, just to name few. The scope of this data collection is the authoritative coverage of critically evaluated and reviewed data on physical, chemical and mechanical properties, including information available from conference proceedings, company literature and the internationally very different standards on PM materials, industry catalogues and brochures, research reports...

Volume III/27 deals with magnetic properties of non-metallic inorganic compounds based on transition metal elements such as pnictides, chalcogenides, halides, borates, silicates and phosphates. Subvolume 27B covers the magnetic and related properties of lanthanide pnictides and chalcogenides (except oxides). During the last decades considerable progress in the research of these families of substances has been made. The data have been compiled in several parts. Parts B1 (Monopnictides) and B2 (Monochalcogenides) were published in 1998, the present Part B3 covers the binary polypnictides and polychalcogenides. Part B4 will deal with ternary pnictides.

In subvolume 27C1 magnetic and related properties of binary lanthanide oxides have been compiled. This subvolume covers data obtained since 1980 and can therefore be regarded as supplement to volume III/12c. While in the previous volume the majority of magnetic data was obtained either from magnetometric measurements or from neutron diffraction, for the present data the main emphasis is devoted to "related" properties without which, however, the understanding of classical magnetic properties is impossible. A second part 27C2 will deal with binary oxides of the actinide elements.
