A collection of self-penned poetry.I don't ever expect to be thought of as a poetical genius, never in a billion years a William Blake. This is simply a cathartic collection of ramblings and words, covering my mental health experiences, the pride of being a parent, the despair felt from isolation when your child has a disability, diagnosis, dream state and views on the world around me.I just wanted to put this out there, some may find it helpful, others may laugh at my wording and phrase, and that's ok, I just write as i feel, collecting the letters and emotions as they fall into my hands. I don't claim to be Keats or Shelley, i'm just a dad trying to make sense of the chaos and utter joy around me.It's all here, published as written, mostly in haste with grammatical errors, missing full stops, erratic commas. Words written in the moment as a release. Words of utter joy, passion and despair will often look pale & cold under spellcheck. My words as they came, warts and all.Dan

The Last Rock and Roll Show

"February 3, 1959: At 1 AM, a Cadillac is stolen in Clear Lake, Iowa. Unknown to the thief, a set of tapes lie hidden in the trunk. Five days later in Southern California, a drag race will decide the fate of Buddy Holly's final recording. Will the music live or die? This story begins the day the music died. It's like riding shotgun in a 1950's whodunit. You can smell the fuel burning, quench your thirst with an ice cold Coca-Cola and feel the raw power of classic Detroit muscle screaming from the pages. The Last Rock and Roll Show flawlessly blends the details of the fateful night we lost some of rock's true pioneers with an original tale of teenage dreams gone wrong. The Last Rock and Roll Show is the kind of historical fiction music fans live for. "--Publisher.

The Music of Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings provides an in-depth study of the music of two of the biggest fantasy franchises, focussing on music's worldbuilding roles within the film-watching experience and elsewhere in videogames, trailers, plays, theme parks and other attractions, and the world of fandom. Daniel White takes a range of approaches and techniques of motivic and thematic musical analysis, and pairs this with transformational harmonic analysis to theorise music's worldbuilding roles in film. Chapters focus in turn on the opening sequences of the case study franchise films, their closing sequences, and on their depiction of houses, homes and homelands. Extra-filmic areas...
