Samuel William Goold was born 3 September 1845 in Cwmbran, Monmouthshire, Wales. He married Sarah Ann Lewis in Salt Lake City, Utah on 28 July 1873. He died on 6 December 1918 in Monroe, Utah. Sarah died on 5 March 1920 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had nine children. .
