Multiliteracies in English as an Additional Language Classrooms
This book presents different practices and strategies for the English as an additional language classroom as well as units that could be adapted to various grade levels, English language proficiency levels, and linguistic and cultural backgrounds. The research, lessons, and concepts included in the book present innovative ideas in EAL education. The chapters are the result of a professional learning program for 30 English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers from Brazil, held at the University of Miami’s School of Education and Human Development in the Spring semester of 2018. The program, entitled “Six-Week English Language Certificate Program for High School English Teachers from Brazil (PDPI),” contained several components related to language development and methodology, including orality, reading, writing, linguistic and grammatical knowledge, and interculturality. The program was guided by the principle of multiliteracies, with a focus on English language development through new possibilities to participate in meaning making that incorporates verbal, visual, body language, gestures, and audiovisual resources.

Cosmococa
Comprehensive edition regarding the first 5 multimedia installations as originally envisioned by artist Oiticica (b. Brazil) and conceived in collaboration with the filmmaker D'Almeida (b. Brazil). The Cosmococa photographic series consist of single rolls of film in accordance with the artist's concept of "quasi-cinema", participative spaces that transcend the cinematographic experience and call into question the contemplative nature of the art object and designed as collective experiences making the spectator an active participant. The present edition is faithful to the artist's original concept in it's presentation of facsimiles of both his notebooks in which the works were conceptualized and Oiticica's own typewritten transcriptions along photographs of installations recently mounted at the Pinacoteca de Sao Paulo and at the Centro de Arte Hélio Oiticica in Rio de Janeiro, two multimedia installations that precede the original photographs for Cosmacoca. The book also contains critical essays by César Oiticica Filho (curator of Projeto Hélio Oiticica), Paulo Herkenhoff and Kátia Maciel.

Portuguese Orientalism
Research on Portuguese orientalism has been mostly centred on the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and has focused on missionary work and Catholic orientalism. Cultural and Literary Dialogues Between Asia and Latin America
This book brings together a group of leading and emerging scholars on the history of cultural and literary interactions between Asia and Latin America. Through a number of interlinked case studies, contributors examine how different forms of Asia-Latin America dialogues are embedded in various national and local contexts. The volume is divided in four parts: 1) Asian hybrid identities and Latin American transnational narratives; 2) translations and reception of Latin American narratives in Asia; 3) diffracted worlds of Nikkei identities; and 4) interweaving of Asian and Latin American narratives and travel chronicles.
