A History of the Hesser Family, 1708-1945
Chiefly descendants of the emigrant Johann Friedrich Hesser from Germany who settled in Germantown, Pa., Va., and Ohio. Johann Friedrich Hesser was born 6 February in Wittenburg, Germany and died 3 July, 1763 in Germantown, Pennsylvania. He came to America aboard the ship Loyal Judith, arriving at Philadelphia in 1732. He married Anna Maria Catharina Hofman in 1734. They are buried in St Michael's Lutheran Church cemetery in Germantown. Their descendant Frederick Hesser (1763-1846) served as a drummer for George Washington durning the Revolutionary War. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, New Hampshire, Minnesota, Indiana, Iowa, Colorado, Montana, California and elsewhere.
