O volume reúne duas obras de George Berkeley, "Alciphron, ou o filósofo minucioso" e "Siris". "Alciphron" é estruturado como um diálogo filosófico entre quatro personagens, no qual Berkeley combate os argumentos dos chamados "livres-pensadores" (como Mandesville ou Shaftesbury), fazendo uma apologia do Cristianismo.
