This document provides a brief description of research and development accomplishments of the Air Force Human Resources Laboratory and services provided to various customers from fiscal years 1986 to 1988. Some of these accomplishments resulted in interim products and/or capability/feasibility demonstrations which served as building blocks for developing the end products. The Air Force Human Resources Laboratory (AFHRL) is the principal AFSC organization charged with planning and executing the USAF exploratory and advanced development programs in manpower and personnel, education and training, simulation and training devices, and logistics and group aspect of human factors, for research and development related to personnel, flight training, simulation, logistics, and technical training.
The Air Force Human Resources Laboratory is the principal Air Force Systems Command organization for planning and coordinating research in personnel management, logistics and team training, aircrew training, and technical training. Part of the basic mission of this laboratory is to develop useful products for making management and policy decisions on Air Force personnel. Human resources technology is important because the largest single item in the DoD budget is the cost of personnel. The accomplishments in this paper reflect research and development completed during 1983. R & D accomplishments are presented in five major areas: Manpower and Personnel; Training Systems; Operations Training; and Logistics and Human Factors.
