New Autonomous Systems

The idea of autonomous systems that are able to make choices according to properties which allow them to experience, apprehend and assess their environment is becoming a reality. These systems are capable of auto-configuration and self-organization. This book presents a model for the creation of autonomous systems based on a complex substratum, made up of multiple electronic components that deploy a variety of specific features. This substratum consists of multi-agent systems which act continuously and autonomously to collect information from the environment which they then feed into the global system, allowing it to generate discerning and concrete representations of its surroundings. These systems are able to construct a so-called artificial corporeity which allows them to have a sense of self, to then behave autonomously, in a way reminiscent of living organisms.

Hawkins and Turner argue that coaching needs to step up to deliver value to all the stakeholders of the coachee, including those they lead, colleagues, investors, customers, partners, their local community and also the wider ecology. Systemic Coaching contains key chapters on how to contract in various settings, how to work relationally and dialogically, how to expand our own and others’ ecological awareness, how to get greater value from supervision, work with systemic ethics and expand our impact. While illustrating why a new model of coaching is necessary, Hawkins and Turner also provide the tools and approaches that coaches and clients need to deliver this greater impact, accompanied by real-life case examples and interviews from the authors and other leading coaches and leaders globally. Systemic Coaching will be an invaluable resource for coaches in practice and in training, mentors, coach supervisors, consultants in leadership development and HR and L&D professionals and leaders.

Beyond Artificial Intelligence

Beyond Artificial Intelligence

This book will present a complete modeling of the human psychic system that allows to generate the thoughts in a strictly organizational approach that mixes a rising and falling approach. The model will present the architecture of the psychic system that can generate sensations and thoughts, showing how one can feel thoughts. The model developed into an organizational architecture based on massive multiagent systems. The architecture will be fully developed, showing how an artificial system can be endowed with consciousness and intentionally generate thoughts and, especially, feel them. These results are multidisciplinary, combining both psychology and computer science disciplines.

Fundamental Generation Systems

Fundamental Generation Systems

There are many different ways of generating representations. This includes representations generated by living beings while comprehending reality in order to act; representations generated by the Universe during its extensive unfolding, creating physical elements and living beings; and the direct representation of elements through an animal’s sixth sense. To this list we must now add the creation of artificial consciousness, which generates representations that resemble the mental representations of humans. These representations allow robotic systems to communicate directly with each other. Fundamental Generation Systems develops a theory which presents, from the beginning, the function of this sixth sense called the “sense of informational comprehension”. This sense is understood as an ability to use the informational foundations of the Universe via a dedicated cerebral domain found in every animal.

Information Organization of the Universe and Living Things

The universe is considered an expansive informational field subjected to a general organizational law. The organization of the deployment results in the emergence of an autonomous organization of spatial and material elements endowed with permanence, which are generated on an informational substratum where an organizational law is exercised at all scales. The initial action of a generating informational element produces a quantity of basic informational elements that multiply to form other informational elements that will either be neutral, constituting the basic spatial elements, or active, forming quantum elements. The neutral basic elements will form the space by a continuous aggregation ...

Innovative Concepts for Agent-Based Systems

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the First International Workshop on Radical Agent Concepts, WRAC 2002, held in McLean, VA, USA in January 2002. The 32 revised full papers presented together with an invited article, 6 poster papers, and 2 panel reports were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the book. The papers are organized in topical sections on adaptation and learning, agent-based software engineering, agent architectures, agent communication and coordination, and innovative applications.

Innovative Concepts for Autonomic and Agent-Based Systems

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the Second International Workshop on Radical Agent Concepts, WRAC 2005, held in Greenbelt, MD, USA in September 2005. The 27 full papers presented are fully revised to incorporate reviewers' comments and discussions at the workshop. Topics addressed are social aspects of agents, agent architectures, autonomic systems, agent communities, and agent intelligence.

Emergent Properties in Natural and Artificial Dynamical Systems

An important part of the science of complexity is the study of emergent properties arising through dynamical processes, in various natural and artificial systems. This book presents multidisciplinary approaches for creating and modeling representations of complex systems, and a variety of methods for extracting emergent structures. Offering bio-complexity examples, the coverage extends to self organization, synchronization, stability and robustness. The contributors include researchers in physics, engineering, biology and chemistry.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed joint post-proceedings of five international workshops organized by the Japanese Society of Artificial Intelligence, JSAI in 2001.The 75 revised papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the volume. In accordance with the five workshops documented, the book offers topical sections on social intelligence design, agent-based approaches in economic and complex social systems, rough set theory and granular computing, chance discovery, and challenges in knowledge discovery and data mining.
