Semi-bounded Differential Operators, Contractive Semigroups and Beyond
In the present book the conditions are studied for the semi-boundedness of partial differential operators which is interpreted in different ways. Nowadays one knows rather much about L2-semibounded differential and pseudo-differential operators, although their complete characterization in analytic terms causes difficulties even for rather simple operators. Until recently almost nothing was known about analytic characterizations of semi-boundedness for differential operators in other Hilbert function spaces and in Banach function spaces. The goal of the present book is to partially fill this gap. Various types of semi-boundedness are considered and some relevant conditions which are either necessary and sufficient or best possible in a certain sense are given. Most of the results reported in this book are due to the authors.

Functional Analytic Methods In Complex Analysis And Applications To Partial Differential Equations
These proceedings concentrate on recent results in the following fields of complex analysis: complex methods for solving boundary value problems with piecewise smooth boundary data, complex methods for linear and nonlinear differential equations and systems of second order, and applications of scales of Banach spaces to initial value problems.Some problems in higher dimensions (such as the unification of global and local existence theorems for holomorphic functions and an elementary approach to Clifford analysis) are also discussed.Particular emphasis is placed on Symbolic Computation in Complex Analysis and on the new approaches to teach mathematical analysis based on interactions between complex analysis and partial differential equations.
Analysis as a Life
This is a book comprising selected papers of colleagues and friends of Heinrich Begehr on the occasion of his 80th birthday. It aims at being a tribute to the excellent achievements of Heinrich Begehr in complex analysis and complex differential equations, and especially to his prominent role as one of the creators and long-time leader of the International Society for Analysis, its Applications and Computation (ISAAC).
Differential Equations, Mathematical Physics, and Applications: Selim Grigorievich Krein Centennial
This is the second of two volumes dedicated to the centennial of the distinguished mathematician Selim Grigorievich Krein. The companion volume is Contemporary Mathematics, Volume 733. Krein was a major contributor to functional analysis, operator theory, partial differential equations, fluid dynamics, and other areas, and the author of several influential monographs in these areas. He was a prolific teacher, graduating 83 Ph.D. students. Krein also created and ran, for many years, the annual Voronezh Winter Mathematical Schools, which significantly influenced mathematical life in the former Soviet Union. The articles contained in this volume are written by prominent mathematicians, former students and colleagues of Selim Krein, as well as lecturers and participants of Voronezh Winter Schools. They are devoted to a variety of contemporary problems in ordinary and partial differential equations, fluid dynamics, and various applications.
