The Albright-Knox Art Academy celebrated its 125th anniversary in 1862 with the publication of 125 outstanding works from its collections. The volume includes paintings and sculptures by the best-known artists of the 19th and 20th centuries, representing major schools of U.S. and European art from early American portraiture and impressionism to minimalism and neo-expressionism. Among those featured from American art history are George Bellows, Thomas Eakins, and Winslow Homer; from 19th century European art are Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse and George Seurat; and Salvador Dali, Marc Chagall, and Pablo Picasso from the modernists.
