One Baptism--One Church?

"Over the centuries Christians have recognized the baptism of those outside their own ecclesial body, but the practices of receiving those who are already baptized from other groups proclaim social, theological, and ecclesial distinctions. How do contemporary practices reflect theological principles and historical development? One Baptism-One Church? demonstrates how the social context and organization of local communities leads to prioritizing inner coherence and security over theological principles"--

Management of complementary platform-based software products

The concept of platforms emerges in an increasing number of industries and affects customers' changing expectations, industries themselves, and new technologies' availability. Today, most platforms act as a technical foundation and distribution channel for complementary software products. Organizations can join platforms and use them to develop and distribute software products. They become complementors on the platforms. Platforms influence the motivations as well as the organization and affects software products of the complementors. Among other things, when using platforms, complementors must accept the platforms' specifications (for example, the technologies to be used). These requirements lead to additional work for complementors. The effort for complementors increases if software products are to be offered in parallel on multiple platforms. This publication examines how platforms affect organizations that use multiple platforms. It gives organizations recommendations for action on how to accommodate the platforms' influence.

This book contains the refereed proceedings of the Third International Conference on Software Business (ICSOB) held in Cambridge, MA, USA, in June 2012. The software business refers to commercial activities in the software industry, aimed at generating revenues from the design, delivery, and maintenance of software products and IT services to enterprises and individual customers, as well as from digital content. Although this business shares common features with other knowledge-intensive markets, it carries many inherent features making it a challenging domain for research. The 20 full and 10 short papers accepted for ICSOB were selected from 60 submissions and are organized in sections on software product management, organizational transformation, industry transformation, software platforms and ecosystems, and emerging trends.
