Este livro é um dos resultados do seminário realizado com Serge Proulx, no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciências da Comunicação da Unisinos, institulado Mutações da Comunicação: Emergência de uma Cultura da Contribuição na Era Digital, numa iniciativa do Grupo de Pesquisa em Midiatização e Processos Sociais e Epistecom. Dos cinco encontros realizados com Serge Proulx, foram escolhidos, para este livro, três eixos, apresentados no formato de capítulos: a recepção; a reflexão sobre os usos, práticas e apropriações das técnicas e tecnologias; a cultura da participação. O seminário se realizou no âmbito do projeto Midiatização e Tecnologias Digitais/Escola de Altos Estudos/CAPES que contou também com a participação de Bernard Miège e Patrice Flichy. Este livro é um dos resultados do seminário realizado com Patrice Flichy, no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciências da Comunicação da Unisinos, institulado Os amadores no mundo digital: ruma a uma nova democracia das competências, numa iniciativa do Grupo de Pesquisa em Midiatização e Processos Sociais e Epistecom. O seminário se realizou no âmbito do projeto Midiatização e Tecnologias Digitais/Escola de Altos Estudos/CAPES e foi apresentado em torno de três eixos: o imaginário tecnológico contemporâneo; o indivíduo em busca de sua identidade; e as práticas culturais dos amadores. Este livro aborda, teórica e empiricamente, os três eixos, numa diversidade que transita pelo indivíduo, as instituições, as tecnologias e os meios. Ele é um dos três que compõem a série relativa aos seminários desenvolvidos no projeto, que teve também participação de Bernard Miège e Serge Prouxl.

The Amazon

The development projects and enterprises have aroused woridwide interest and have given rise to discussions on their aims and their consequences to the Amazonian nature. Limnological and ecological investigations in Amazonia started only about 40 years ago. The editor had the good fortune to partake in them from the very beginning. He spent his decisive years in Amazonia, and dedicated his life's work to that research and to that country and the Amazonian people. Nearing the end of his scicntific activities, hc is gratcful to bc ablc to summarizc in this book most of the knowledge we possess at present of Amazonian limnology and landscape ecology.
Amazonian Deforestation and Climate
The book describes the carefully made measurements in the pasture and rainforest at a series of sites across Amazonia. The data are analysed and interpreted to allow them to be used as the basis of accurate and realistic description of the land surface in the global circulation model which are used to predict the climate effect of large scale deforestation. Results are presented at all scales: for the centimetre scale of leaf and soil moisture measurementes, the field scale of micrometeorological flux measurements, through to the scale of meteorological models which predict the climate of the whole Amazonian basin.
