Sequences II

This volume contains all papers presented at the workshop "Sequences '91: Methods in Communication, Security and Computer Science," which was held Monday, June 17, through Friday, June 21, 1991, at the Hotel Covo dei Saraceni, Positano, ltaly. The event was sponsored by the Dipartimento di Informatica ed Applicazioni of the University of Salerno and by the Dipartimento di Matematica of the University of Rome. We wish to express our warmest thanks to the members of the program Committee: Professor B. Bose, Professor S. Even, Professor Z. Galil, Professor A. Lempel, Professor J. Massey, Professor D. Advances in Cryptology - EUROCRYPT '94

This volume is concerned with the individual steps in the pathway of retrovirus morphogenesis and maturation starting at the point where the components of the virion have been synthesized within the infected cell and ending once the infectious virion has been released from this cell. An introductory chapter provides a comparative description of the structure and morphology of infectious viruses. A novel feature is the organization according to individual steps in the pathway of virus particle formation rather than according to individual viruses or virus groups as has been done in most previous reviews. This novel concept should allow a comparative discussion of the similarities and differences within this complex virus family regarding the specific aspects of formation of an infectious virion.

Theory of Cryptography

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Second Theory of Cryptography Conference, TCC 2005, held in Cambridge, MA, USA in February 2005. The 32 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 84 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on hardness amplification and error correction, graphs and groups, simulation and secure computation, security of encryption, steganography and zero knowledge, secure computation, quantum cryptography and universal composability, cryptographic primitives and security, encryption and signatures, and information theoretic cryptography.

Game-Theoretic Foundations for Probability and Finance

Game-theoretic probability and finance come of age Glenn Shafer and Vladimir Vovk’s Probability and Finance, published in 2001, showed that perfect-information games can be used to define mathematical probability. Based on fifteen years of further research, Game-Theoretic Foundations for Probability and Finance presents a mature view of the foundational role game theory can play. Its account of probability theory opens the way to new methods of prediction and testing and makes many statistical methods more transparent and widely usable. Its contributions to finance theory include purely game-theoretic accounts of Ito’s stochastic calculus, the capital asset pricing model, the equity prem...
