Since the early 1960s, artists have sealed off spaces in galleries and museums as a radical artistic gesture. These uncompromising works confront the viewer to a closed exhibition space, encouraging instead a physical, sensitive, or conceptual experience of each. These exhibitions are now re-explored at Fri Art. One after the other, they give structure to a retrospective that is written in time, as each work will successively close the exhibiton space, between August 6 and November 19, 2016. The retrospective's last day will be marked by the re-opening of the exhibition space. Festivities will include the launch of an important multidisciplinary, historical, and prospective anthology dedicated to radical artistic engagement: 'The Anti-Museum.' Exhibition: Fri Art - Centre d'art de Fribourg / Kunsthalle Freiburg, Switzerland (05.08-19.11.2016).

Morgan Gable first falls for Daniel Connolly, a popular Irish tenor, when she hears him sing. Starstruck, she is consumed by thoughts of love with the handsome troubadour. Real life intrudes and Morgan must put aside her own dreams for awhile. Five years later, she and her troubadour meet again, AND fate hands her the chance to make her every wish come true. Daniel entices her into a marriage of convenience. Can she save him from the treacherous political legacy of his late wife? Set in 1871, the story sweeps from the tragedy of the Chicago Fire to the streets of New York and finally to the wild, dangerous coast of Ireland. Is Daniel merely using Morgan for his own deceptions? Or is she right to listen with her heart?

'Powerful' Closer 'A darkly quirky story of love, obsession and fear . . . a beautiful story hung around the enchanting and heartbreaking voice of teenager Greg' Anna James Miss Hayes has a new theory. She thinks my condition's caused by some traumatic incident from my past I keep deep-rooted in my mind. As soon as I come clean I'll flood out all these tears and it'll all be ok and I won't be scared of Them anymore. The truth is I can't think of any single traumatic childhood incident to tell her. I mean, there are plenty of bad memories - Herb's death, or the time I bit the hole in my tongue, or Finners Island, out on the boat with Sarah - but none of these are what caused the phobia. I've always had it. It's Them. I'm just scared of Them. It's that simple. For fans of Sarah Winman, Junot Diaz and Maria Semple, Alice and the Fly is an unforgettable book about phobias and obsessions, isolation and dark corners, families, friendships, and carefully preserved secrets. But above everything else it's about love. Finding love - in any of its forms - and nurturing it.
