e-Learning Excellence Awards 2015: An Anthology of Case Histories
The call for case histories was announced in 2014 and 60 submissions were received, describing on an outline basis what was achieved with these ap-plications of e-Learning. There were 36 interesting examples described in these abstracts which were invited to forward a completed case history. The panel of experts then chose 12 case history finalists who were invited to present their work at the 14th annual European Conference on e-Learning at the University of Hertfordshire at Hatfield in the UK in October, 2015. As can be seen from the Contents page, the topics presented range widely, as was expected when working with a subject like e-Learning. It may also be observed that the entrants come from many different parts of the world. The competition requires the 3 best to be chosen and it is clear that the judges will have a challenging task to select the winners.

Lehrpersonen in der akademischen Fremdsprachendidaktik zeigten während der COVID-19-Pandemie einigen Ideenreichtum in Bezug auf die Konzeption ihrer Lehrveranstaltungen. Vor allem die Aktivierung der Studierenden musste weitgehend neu gedacht und mithilfe digitaler Medien realisiert werden. Termini wie "synchron", "asynchron" oder "hybrid" gehörten plötzlich zum Alltagsvokabular. Dieser Band beschreibt die metareflexiven Prozesse einer Disziplin, die im Zuge einer radikalen Umstellung auf digitale Lehre das eigene Selbstverständnis befragt und dabei zukunftsweisende Praktiken exploriert.

With her debut album Switched-On Bach, composer and electronic musician Wendy Carlos (b. 1939) brought the sound of the Moog synthesizer to a generation of listeners, helping to effect arguably one of the most substantial changes in popular music's sound since musicians began using amplifiers. Her story is not only one of a person who blazed new trails in electronic music for decades but is also the story of a person who intersected in many ways with American popular culture, medicine, and social trends during the second half of the 20th century and well into the 21st. There is much to tell about her life and about the ways in which her life reflects many dimensions of American culture. Carlos's identity as a transgender woman has shaped many aspects of her life, her career, how she relates to the public, and how the public has received her and her music. Cultural factors surrounding the treatment of transgender people affected many of the decisions that Carlos has made over the decades. Additionally, cultural reception and perception of transgender people has colored how journalists, scholars, and fans have written about Carlos and her music for decades.
