Analysis and Mathematical Physics
Our knowledge of objects of complex and potential analysis has been enhanced recently by ideas and constructions of theoretical and mathematical physics, such as quantum field theory, nonlinear hydrodynamics, material science. These are some of the themes of this refereed collection of papers, which grew out of the first conference of the European Science Foundation Networking Programme 'Harmonic and Complex Analysis and Applications' held in Norway 2007.
Harmonic Analysis and Partial Differential Equations
Over the course of his distinguished career, Vladimir Maz'ya has made a number of groundbreaking contributions to numerous areas of mathematics, including partial differential equations, function theory, and harmonic analysis. Complex Analysis and Dynamical Systems
This book focuses on developments in complex dynamical systems and geometric function theory over the past decade, showing strong links with other areas of mathematics and the natural sciences. Traditional methods and approaches surface in physics and in the life and engineering sciences with increasing frequency – the Schramm‐Loewner evolution, Laplacian growth, and quadratic differentials are just a few typical examples. Complex Analysis and Dynamical Systems II
This volume is a collection of papers reflecting the conference held in Nahariya, Israel in honor of Professor Lawrence Zalcman's sixtieth birthday. The papers, many written by leading authorities, range widely over classical complex analysis of one and several variables, differential equations, and integral geometry. Complex Analysis and Dynamical Systems IV
The papers in this volume cover a wide variety of topics in the geometric theory of functions of one and several complex variables, including univalent functions, conformal and quasiconformal mappings, and dynamics in infinite-dimensional spaces. In addition, there are several articles dealing with various aspects of Lie groups, control theory, and optimization. Taken together, the articles provide the reader with a panorama of activity in complex analysis and quasiconformal mappings, drawn by a number of leading figures in the field. The companion volume (Contemporary Mathematics, Volume 554) is devoted to general relativity, geometry, and PDE.
Functions of Bounded Variation and Their Fourier Transforms
Functions of bounded variation represent an important class of functions. Studying their Fourier transforms is a valuable means of revealing their analytic properties. Moreover, it brings to light new interrelations between these functions and the real Hardy space and, correspondingly, between the Fourier transform and the Hilbert transform. This book is divided into two major parts, the first of which addresses several aspects of the behavior of the Fourier transform of a function of bounded variation in dimension one. In turn, the second part examines the Fourier transforms of multivariate functions with bounded Hardy variation. The results obtained are subsequently applicable to problems in approximation theory, summability of the Fourier series and integrability of trigonometric series.
Further Progress in Analysis
The ISAAC (International Society for Analysis, its Applications and Computation) Congress, which has been held every second year since 1997, covers the major progress in analysis, applications and computation in recent years. In this proceedings volume, plenary lectures highlight the recent research results, while 17 sessions organized by well-known specialists reflect the state of the art of important subfields. This volume concentrates on partial differential equations, function spaces, operator theory, integral transforms and equations, potential theory, complex analysis and generalizations, inverse problems, functional differential and difference equations and integrable systems.
New Trends in Approximation Theory
The international conference entitled "New Trends in Approximation Theory" was held at the Fields Institute, in Toronto, from July 25 until July 29, 2016. The conference was fondly dedicated to the memory of our unique friend and colleague, André Boivin, who gave tireless service in Canada until his very last moment of his life in October 2014. The impact of his warm personality and his fine work on Complex Approximation Theory was reflected by the mathematical excellence and the wide research range of the 37 participants.
