Trata-se de uma contribuição muito original para a preservação da memória e para a historiografia das ações em prol do patrimônio educativo no Brasil, que começa a se configurar no país. Por um lado, o livro oferece um manancial de relatos sobre a constituição e organização de diferentes acervos e o trato com fontes específicas. Por outro lado, de forma transversalizada, são apresentadas diferentes estratégias de divulgação dos acervos e as relações que eles mantêm com a comunidade escolar e/ou com a sociedade local. [Aborda] a potencialidade das instituições de preservação documental em educação desenvolverem atividades articuladas de ensino, pesquisa e extensão. As experiências relatadas perspectivam as múltiplas facetas do cotidiano dessas instituições e os esforços dos envolvidos em um incessante trabalho colaborativo, reflexivo e formativo.
