Andreas Hofer has been developing a style of art which activates very different sources since the early 1990s. Some of these sources are generally acknowledged while others are dubious or even submerged. Andreas Hofers disturbing and challenging imagery is derived from history, art history and popular culture, but is definitively his own, He often invokes an all-American optimism (e.g. comic book heroes) and a dark-era of European history (e.g. symbols of the Third Reich) simultaneously.
