The new vignerons

"I traveled over the course of almost two years with photographer Estanis Núñez, an old friend of mine, just like we used to in our rock'n'roll days, taking photos, eating and drinking together. This book contains 14 profiles of vignerons, each of them different, spanning most of the wine-producing regions of Spain. There are others, but this is my personal selection. Their profiles talk about the history, landscape, vineyards, cuisine, passion and tradition of their region. You won't find tannins, anthocyanins, vintages, points or tasting notes here. I am hardly going to talk about wine at all. But you will find the often-forgotten human side and the context of what is in the bottle, including local cuisine (where wine plays an important role) as well as each winegrower's personal take on it. . Their main aim in life is to portray the uniqueness of their vineyards, villages and landscapes through a bottle of wine. Wine that can transport you back to the time and place it was produced the moment you drink it. These are the new vignerons. A new generation of Spanish winegrowers."

The World Health Organization (WHO), with the scientific support of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), guides the development of medicines for market authorization using biowaiver strategies based on the Biopharmaceutical Classification System (BCS). A review of the regulatory framework guiding medicines approval in Latin American countries revealed that less than 50% of regional health authorities offer a development pathway utilizing a BCS-based biowaiver strategy. Aligned with the WHO Strategy, a regional case study was conducted to harmonize BCS-based biowaiver knowledge in Latin America. FIP supports establishing a steering committee with regional representatives from health authorities, the pharmaceutical industries, and universities. These stakeholders coordinated digital events to share knowledge on BCS-based regulatory strategy. FIP-facilitated digital learning opportunities raised awareness of the BCS-based biowaiver knowledge. It resulted in a plan to continually strengthen collaborative efforts in the region to harmonize knowledge of medicines to introduce cost-effective products.

Hyperborder

Roving vigilantes, fear-mongering politicians, hysterical pundits, and the looming shadow of a seven hundred-mile-long fence: the US–Mexican border is one of the most complex and dynamic areas on the planet today. Hyperborder provides the most nuanced portrait yet of this dynamic region. Author Fernando Romero presents a multidisciplinary perspective informed by interviews with numerous academics, researchers, and organizations. Provocatively designed in the style of other kinetic large-scale studies like Rem Koolhaas's Content and Bruce Mau’s Massive Change, Hyperborder is an exhaustively researched report from the front lines of the border debate.

Made in Mexico

Made in Mexico examines the aesthetic, political, and sociopolitical aspects of tourism in southern Mexico, particularly in the state of Oaxaca. Tourists seeking "authenticity" buy crafts and festival tickets and spend even more on travel expenses. What does a craft object or a festival moment need to look like or sound like to please both tradition bearers and tourists in terms of aesthetics? Under what conditions are transactions between these parties psychologically healthy and sustainable? What political factors can interfere with the success of this negotiation, and what happens when the process breaks down? With Subcommandante Marcos and the Zapatistas still operating in neighboring Ch...
