AIDS on the Agenda is written for policymakers, managers, and program staff in development and humanitarian agencies, to promote debate about the challenges that confront them in a world which has been changed for ever by the pandemic of AIDS. The book considers three possible responses to the problem: * Do nothing. * Try to specialize in direct AIDS work. * Adapt core programs and internal systems to respond to the impact of AIDS. The author argues for the third approach as the essential initial response. She shows how mainstream work in a wide range of sectors e" including food security, livelihoods support, education, health promotion, and emergency provision of water and sanitation e" ca...

Image Mosaicing and Super-resolution

This book investigates sets of images consisting of many overlapping viewsofa scene, and how the information contained within them may be combined to produce single images of superior quality. The generic name for such techniques is frame fusion. Using frame fusion, it is possible to extend the fieldof view beyond that ofany single image, to reduce noise, to restore high-frequency content, and even to increase spatial resolution and dynamic range. The aim in this book is to develop efficient, robust and automated frame fusion algorithms which may be applied to real image sequences. An essential step required to enable frame fusion is image registration: computing the point-to-point mapping b...

Virtual and Augmented Architecture (VAA’01)

This book focuseson the use of computer visionand graphics in architecture. It arose from a convergenceof several hot topics: 1. visualization of built environments for engineering, historical and other purposes, 2. virtual reconstruction of architecture from visual data of existing struc tures, whether via photogrammetric or range sensing techniques, and 3. augmentation of video data of architecture with useful information. The focus here is on architecture and howto present it, enhance it's abilities, make it easier to understand and make it accessibleto a larger public. Collective interest in this topic led to the International Symposium on Virtual and Augmented Architecture, whose papers are contained in this book. As editors, we were very pleased about how well the different papers chosen gavea nice focus to the topic and conference. It is clear that there are many different research approaches still active in this area - this makes it an exciting time. Wehope that this book captures that excitement and succeeds in bringing it to you.

Proceedings of the 2015 International Conference on Medicine and Biopharmaceuticals

"This book provides an all-embracing review of each and every author's study on the related topics and areas. For instance, some author's study on Chinese Medicine, and some other researchers' survey on biomedical engineering. Moreover, there are also papers that focus on information based bioinformatics, pharmacy and medicinal chemistry and biopharmaceutical technology."--

3D Structure from Images - SMILE 2000

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the Second European Workshop on 3D Structure from Multiple Images of Large-Scale Environments, SMILE 2000, held in Dublin, Ireland in July 2000. The 12 revised full papers presented together with one invited paper and transcriptions of the panels following the three sessions were carefully reviewed and revised for inclusion in the book. The papers are organized in topical sections on computation and algorithms, visual scene representations, and extended environments.

Premiering in 1990 in Antibes, France, the European Conference on Computer Vision, ECCV, has been held biennially at venues all around Europe. These conferences have been very successful, making ECCV a major event to the computer vision community. ECCV 2002 was the seventh in the series. The privilege of organizing it was shared by three universities: The IT University of Copenhagen, the University of Copenhagen, and Lund University, with the conference venue in Copenhagen. These universities lie ̈ geographically close in the vivid Oresund region, which lies partly in Denmark and partly in Sweden, with the newly built bridge (opened summer 2000) crossing the sound that formerly divided the ...
