Stories from a Damaged Mind

There are some events that change peoples perception of life and some events that are so monumental they are life-changing. When my fourth daughter was diagnosed with RSS, and at the extreme end of the scale, professors and doctors shook their heads and predicted the worst scenario. We experienced two and three-quarter years of hospital appointments and special-need clinic meetings with parents whose lives had been crippled, shattered, and changed forever by giving birth to a child with any one of ten thousand syndromes that exist. These poems/stories are my interpretation of what I witnessed during that timea world I described as the event horizon to Hell. The doctors in my daughters case tried to play God and were wrong! My daughter is now nineteen, training to be an actor, and is doing very well.

Snakeskin Shoes & the Number 30 Bus

“They say time and tide wait for no man. I, on the other hand, wait for you all.” A clock ticks above your head, counting down time, counting down your life. There’s no escaping it. For millennia, I have walked amongst you. I have only one job: collection of the newly departed. My name is Death. In all this time I have never spoken to a living soul... That is until now. Follow Death through the annals of time as he shares the tales of his ‘collections’ from the docks of London to the cotton fields of America and the heat of the Burmese jungle. These tales of love, hate, joy, and fear are all illustrated with an eclectic Spotify playlist and an extraordinary debut novel by author Andrew Reid.

If you are considering a new life in Israel then Toto, I Dont Think We Are in Golders Green Anymore is essential reading. This is an often humorous account about becoming a Jew and moving to Israel as a new immigrant. It is also the story of a relationship that didn't quite work out and about being gay in Israel. This book will give you a feeling for what it is really like to live in Israel; experience the sights, smells, tastes, the blood-vessel-popping frustration and the exhilaration of Aliyah. Meet a host of lovable characters such as cockroach-chomping kittens, snarling nudists, and ferocious rubber-stamp-wielding clerks with pig-stunning BO. The book explores Israeli norms and attitudes and describes places, politics and everyday experiences through English eyes.
