This book constitutes revised selected papers from the 17th International Meeting on Computational Intelligence Methods for Bioinformatics and Biostatistics, CIBB 2021, which was held virtually during November 15–17, 2021. The 19 papers included in these proceedings were carefully reviewed and selected from 26 submissions, and they focus on bioinformatics, computational biology, health informatics, cheminformatics, biotechnology, biostatistics, and biomedical imaging.
Proceedings of The 2009 International Conference on Bioinformatics and Computational Biology in Las Vegas, NV, July 13-16, 2009. Recent advances in Computational Biology are covered through a variety of topics. Both inward research (core areas of computational biology and computer science) and outward research (multi-disciplinary, Inter-disciplinary, and applications) will be covered during the conferences. These include: Gene regulation, Gene expression databases, Gene pattern discovery and identification, Genetic network modeling and inference, Gene expression analysis, RNA and DNA structure and sequencing, Biomedical engineering, Microarrays, Molecular sequence and structure databases, Molecular dynamics and simulation, Molecular sequence classification, alignment and assembly, Image processing In medicine and biological sciences, Sequence analysis and alignment, Informatics and Statistics in Biopharmaceutical Research, Software tools for computational biology and bioinformatics, Comparative genomics; and more.
This volume presents an extensive collection of contributions covering aspects of the exciting and important research field of data mining techniques in biomedicine. Coverage includes new approaches for the analysis of biomedical data; applications of data mining techniques to real-life problems in medical practice; comprehensive reviews of recent trends in the field. The book addresses incorporation of data mining in fundamental areas of biomedical research: genomics, proteomics, protein characterization, and neuroscience.
As newer members of the transglutaminase family are being discovered and new functions for existing members are being described, it becomes imperative to collect all the findings in a book. This volume provides the most comprehensive single source of information and will appeal to both new investigators just entering the field and established researchers aiming to elucidate the biological relevance of these enzymes in cancer, inflammation, autoimmune diseases and related areas of research.
This book represents proceedings of the 19th American Peptide Symposium. It highlights many of the recent developments in peptide science, with a particular emphasis on how these advances are being applied to basic problems in biology and medicine. Specific topics covered include novel synthetic strategies, peptides in biological signaling, post-translational modifications of peptides and proteins, and peptide quaternary structure in material science and disease.
This reference book compiles the recent advances in computational and experimental modelling to screen and manage Alzheimer’s disease. It covers basic etiopathology and various in vitro and in vivo strategies of disease intervention. The book discusses how computer-aided drug design approaches reduce costs and increase biological test efficiency. It reviews the screening for anti-Alzheimer drugs and biomarker analysis of disease inhibitors. The book also explores mechanistic aspects of neurodegeneration and the use of natural products as therapeutics for Alzheimer’s disease. Key features: Elaborates on the computational modelling of protein target inhibitors as anti-Alzheimer’s agents Explains the role of phytomolecules and natural products in Alzheimer’s therapy Reviews preclinical ways to assess drugs focusing on Alzheimer’s disease Covers biomarker analysis for Alzheimer’s disease Discusses the onset and progression of Alzheimer’s disease The book is meant for professionals, researchers, and students of neuroscience, psychology, and computational neurosciences.
This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the 15th International Meeting on Computational Intelligence Methods for Bioinformatics and Biostatistics., CIBB 2018, held in Caparica, Portugal, in September 2018. The 32 revised full papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 51 submissions. The papers present current trends at the edge of computer and life sciences, the application of computational intelligence to a system and synthetic biology and the consequent impact on innovative medicine were presented. Theoretical and experimental biologists also presented novel challenges and fostered multidisciplinary collaboration aiming to blend theory and practice, where the founding theories of the techniques used for modelling and analyzing biological systems are investigated and used for practical applications and the supporting technologies.
This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the 12th International Meeting on Computational Intelligence Methods for Bioinformatics and Biostatistics, CIBB 2015, held in Naples, Italy, in September, 2015. The 21 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 24 submissions. They present problems concerning computational techniques in bioinformatics, systems biology and medical informatics discussing cutting edge methodologies and accelerate life science discoveries, as well as novel challenges with an high impact on molecular biology and translational medicine.
