Multilinear Operator Integrals

This book provides a comprehensive treatment of multilinear operator integral techniques. The exposition is structured to be suitable for a course on methods and applications of multilinear operator integrals and also as a research aid. The ideas and contributions to the field are surveyed and up-to-date results and methods are presented. Most practical constructions of multiple operator integrals are included along with fundamental technical results and major applications to smoothness properties of operator functions (Lipschitz and Hölder continuity, differentiability), approximation of operator functions, spectral shift functions, spectral flow in the setting of noncommutative geometry, quantum differentiability, and differentiability of noncommutative L^p-norms. Main ideas are demonstrated in simpler cases, while more involved, technical proofs are outlined and supplemented with references. Selected open problems in the field are also presented.

Spectral triples for nonunital algebras model locally compact spaces in noncommutative geometry. In the present text, the authors prove the local index formula for spectral triples over nonunital algebras, without the assumption of local units in our algebra. This formula has been successfully used to calculate index pairings in numerous noncommutative examples. The absence of any other effective method of investigating index problems in geometries that are genuinely noncommutative, particularly in the nonunital situation, was a primary motivation for this study and the authors illustrate this point with two examples in the text. In order to understand what is new in their approach in the commutative setting the authors prove an analogue of the Gromov-Lawson relative index formula (for Dirac type operators) for even dimensional manifolds with bounded geometry, without invoking compact supports. For odd dimensional manifolds their index formula appears to be completely new.

The objective of this work is to define and establish the class of adverbs in Old Anatolian Turkish (OAT) as a solid grammatical category.
