Lukkari Johanin perintö
Lukkari Johanin perintö palaa viisi sukupolvea taaksepäin lukkari Johanin ja hänen perheensä elämänvaiheisiin Pielavedellä. Kirja kertoo Kahelinien suvun lukkari Johanin sukuhaarasta 1700-luvulta aina 1800-luvun lopulle asti. Romaani perustuu todellisiin henkilöhahmoihin. Se on kiehtova ajankuvaus suvun vaiheista, yhdistettynä tuon ajan historiallisiin tapahtumiin. Vilho Kahelin syntyi Pielavedellä joulukuussa v. 1945 pientilallisen maanviljelijäperheen toisena lapsena. Aikuistuttuaan hän muutti Lappeenrantaan ja toimi siellä autohuoltamon esimiehenä. Sen jälkeen hän teki yli 30 vuoden työuran vakuutusalalla. Hän jäi eläkkeelle 61-vuotiaana toimittuaan viimeiset vuodet Tapiola-Yhtiöiden säästö- ja sijoituspalvelujen myyntijohtajana Savo-Karjala -alueella.

Väinö Kataja (1867-1914) on Suomen taiteen kultakaudella vaikuttanut kirjailija, jonka tarinat muistetaan parhaiten elokuvina (Koskenlaskijan morsian, Noidan kirot). Kataja ammensi teoksiinsa aiheita Tornionjokilaakson arjesta, ja 1900-luvun alussa hän kuului maamme myydyimpiin kirjailijoihin. Kataja toimi useina vuosina isänsä, Ylitornion nimismies Mikael Jurveliuksen viransijaisena. Tässä tehtävässä koettu on ollut monen novellin alkusysäys. Tämän kokoelman tarinat on aikaisemmin julkaistu kolmessa teoksessa: Maalaiskuvia 1 (1907), Maalaiskuvia 2 (1908) ja Varavallesmannina (1906).
