The first in a three volume set of Mazrui's most important essays, this volume redefines the meaning of Africanity across geographical space, time and cultures. The resulting definition forces us to reject neo-imperialist paradigms and ontologies of what it means to be African. By encouraging us to think about Africanity as an idea rather than as point of origin, the ideas contained in these essays force us to reposition ourselves in the debate of our place in global cultures and civilisations, and prepare us to take an active role in social and political affairs.
Masked Desires, the second anthology compiled by Lawrence Mathew, is a collection of poems inked by 35 writers. The writers came joined together to create a phenomenon. This anthology is based on an extended theme of hidden desires and secret love. I selected this universal theme because I thought that most of us could connect to this easily. It can be analyzed from different angles. It may include a one-sided love, love unexpressed so far, secret relationships, or it may include your deepest darkest secrets you have not shared with anyone. We live in this society with a pretty face, but deep down, all our emotions, feelings and desires are hidden. Some writers have given their own interpretations about the theme. Some writers have written this explicitly or boldly while some others have approached this theme with an implicit or a subtle mindset. We all have felt hidden desires and secret love at least once in our life. A love which could have been deemed unworthy by the society, if they ever came to know about it.
This book is all about the author’s journey to and from his school. The author explains that such a journey is, in fact, much more than just a physical one. It is a journey of lessons, learning and growth which germinates at home, gets refined along the way, and blossoms at school. Through his own example, the author illustrates how members of a family are instrumental in modulating and refining an individual’s overall academic journey and experience. He also indicates how teachers and friends at school seem to seamlessly take on the roles and responsibilities of parents and siblings at home. Besides, the author recollects the sights, sounds and situations he encountered on way to school...

Maize belts vary from the latitude 58° north to the latitude 40° south, and maize ripens every month of the year. Abiotic and biotic stresses are common in maize belts worldwide. Abiotic stresses (chiefly drought, salinity, and extreme temperatures), together with biotic stres...
