Penyuluhan berbudaya : suatu metode pendekatan penyuluhan pertanian berbasis budaya lokal
Berdasarkan Undang-Undang Nomor 16 Tahun 2006 tentang Sistem Penyuluhan Pertanian, Perikanan dan Kehutanan adalah proses pembelajaran bagi pelaku utama dan pelaku usaha agar mereka mau dan mampu menolong dan mengorganisasikan dirinya dalam mengakses informasi pasar, teknologi, permodalan dan sumber daya lainnya, sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan produktivitas, efisiensi usaha pendapatan dan kesejahteraan, serta meneingkatkan kesadaran dalam pelestarian fungsi lingkungan hidup. Pada pasal 26 mengamanatkan bahwa penyuluhan dilakukan dengan pendekatan partisipatif melalui metode penyuluhan pertanian yang disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan serta kondisi pelaku utama dan pelaku usaha. Paradigma baru kegiatan penyuluhan pertanian yaitu mengutamakan pada sumber daya manusianya, sehingga memungkinkan adanya pemberdayaan pada petani. Pemberdayaan petani dapat dilakukan melalui penerapan metode penyuluhan yang berorientasi pada kebutuhan petani dan kondisi sosial budaya yang ada di dalam lingkungan petani. Berdasarkan hal tersebut kegiatan penyuluhan pertanian seyogyanya menggunakan metode penyuluhan yang selaras dengan budaya dan kebiasaan yang ada di dalam kehidupan masyarakat petani.
