This book describes the photocatalytic mechanism, factors affecting photocatalytic activity, design and preparation of different kinds of nanostructured photocatalysts, and their applications in the environmental and energy fields. Further, it illustrates a broad range of modification methods including ion-doping, heterojunction, noble metal deposition, morphological control and sensitizations, which are used to extend the light absorption range of photocatalysts and reduce recombination between electrons and holes. Promising applications include water splitting, contaminant decomposition and photocatalytic reduction of CO2, which are closely related to environmental redemption and new energy development. The book offers an intriguing and useful guide for a broad readership in various fields of catalysis, material sciences, environment and energy.
This volume includes extended and revised versions of a set of selected papers from the 2011 2nd International Conference on Education and Educational Technology (EET 2011) held in Chengdu, China, October 1-2, 2011. The mission of EET 2011 Volume 1 is to provide a forum for researchers, educators, engineers, and government officials involved in the general areas of education and educational technology to disseminate their latest research results and exchange views on the future research directions of these fields. 130 related topic papers were selected into this volume. All the papers were reviewed by 2 program committee members and selected by the volume editor Prof. Yuanzhi Wang, from Intelligent Information Technology Application Research Association, Hong Kong. The conference will bring together leading researchers, engineers and scientists in the domain of interest. We hope every participant can have a good opportunity to exchange their research ideas and results and to discuss the state of the art in the areas of the education and educational technology.
Full-Spectrum Responsive Photocatalytic Materials: From Fundamentals to Applications provides a comprehensive overview on the design, synthesis concepts, mechanisms, characterization techniques, and advances and limitations in applications of full-spectrum responsive photocatalytic materials. The book starts with the fundamentals of full-spectrum responsive materials. It then discusses the problems of most semiconductors that are not active in the whole solar spectrum and explains the benefits of utilizing full-spectrum responsive photocatalysts. Other sections describe examples of full-spectrum responsive photocatalysts classified by material types and provide the design principles and char...
The book examines environmental issues and their solutions with advancements in biotechnology and nanotechnology. This book will focus on environmental friendly waste management, wastewater treatment, and utilization of wastes for energy. As humanity is struggling for clean air, water and even contaminant free food, our society must ponder the condition of environment. This book covers a variety of environmental issues and how they could be solved through innovations in science, engineering and technology. The authors examine the use of biotechnological methods to remediate wastewater, toxic organic compounds and sludge management problems. The topics include different research disciplines s...
Offering a comprehensive view of water-treatment technologies, Nanomaterials for Water Treatment and Remediation explores recent developments in the use of advanced nanomaterials (ANMs) for water treatment and remediation. In-depth reaction mechanisms in water-treatment technologies, including adsorption, catalysis, and membrane filtration for water purification using ANMs, are discussed in detail. The book includes an investigation of the fabrication processes of nanostructured materials and the fundamental aspects of surfaces at the nanoscale. The book also covers the removal of water-borne pathogens and microbes through a photochemical approach. FEATURES Explains various chemical treatmen...
