“Euskaltzaleen Jainkoa hil behar dugu” idatzi zuen Rikardo Arregik, 1967an. Zer esan nahi zuen, ordea, euskaltzale eta jainkozale baten eztarritik ateratako oihu hark? Zein Jainko, zein fede-klase hil nahi zuen Arregik? Gizakia aske eta burujabe izaterik nahi ez zuen Jainkoa; berrehun bat urtean, gutxienez, “euskaldun ona” izateko modu bakarra arautu zuen fede-klasea: euskalduna baserritar, Elizaren esaneko otzan eta modernitatearen etsai izan behar zuela agintzen zuen fedea.
