Model Checking, Synthesis, and Learning
This Festschrift, dedicated to Bengt Jonsson on the occasion of his 60th birthday, contains papers written by many of his friends and collaborators. Bengt has made major contributions covering a wide range of topics including verification and learning. His works on verification, in finite state systems, learning, testing, probabilistic systems, timed systems, and distributed systems reflect both the diversity and the depth of his research. Besides being an excellent scientist, Bengt is also a leader who has greatly influenced the careers of both his students and his colleagues. His main focus throughout his career has been in the area of formal methods, and the research papers dedicated to him in this volume address related topics, particularly related to model checking, temporal logic, and automata learning.
Computer Aided Verification
The refereed proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Computer Aided Verification, CAV 2003, held in Boulder, CO, USA in July 2003. The 32 revised full papers and 9 tool papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 102 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on bounded model checking; symbolic model checking; games, trees, and counters; tools; abstraction; dense time; infinite state systems; applications; theorem proving; automata-based verification; invariants; and explicit model checking.
Correct System Design
Computers are gaining more and more control over systems that we use or rely on in our daily lives, privately as well as professionally. In safety-critical applications, as well as in others, it is of paramount importance that systems controled by a computer or computing systems themselves reliably behave in accordance with the specification and requirements, in other words: here correctness of the system, of its software and hardware is crucial. In order to cope with this callenge, software engineers and computer scientists need to understand the foundations of programming, how different formal theories are linked together, how compilers correctly translate high-level programs into machine code, and why transformations performed are justifiable. This book presents 17 mutually reviewed invited papers organized in sections on methodology, programming, automation, compilation, and application.

CONCUR 2001 - Concurrency Theory
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 12th International Conference on Concurrency Theory, CONCUR 2001, held in Aalborg, Denmark in August 2001. The 32 revised full papers presented together with six invited contributions were carefully reviewed and selected from 78 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on mobility, probabilistic systems, model checking, process algebra, unfoldings and prefixes, logic and compositionality, and games.
Data Refinement
The goal of this book is to provide a comprehensive and systematic introduction to the important and highly applicable method of data refinement and the simulation methods used for proving its correctness. The authors concentrate in the first part on the general principles needed to prove data refinement correct. They begin with an explanation of the fundamental notions, showing that data refinement proofs reduce to proving simulation. The book's second part contains a detailed survey of important methods in this field, which are carefully analysed, and shown to be either incomplete, with counterexamples to their application, or to be always applicable whenever data refinement holds. This is shown by proving, for the first time, that all these methods can be described and analysed in terms of two simple notions: forward and backward simulation. The book is self-contained, going from advanced undergraduate level and taking the reader to the state of the art in methods for proving simulation.
Tools and Algorithms for the Construction and Analysis of Systems
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Tools and Algorithms for the Construction and Analysis of Systems, TACAS 2000, held as part of ETAPS 2000 in Berlin, Germany, in March/April 2000. The 33 revised full papers presented together with one invited paper and two short tool descriptions were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 107 submissions. Tools and Algorithms for the Construction and Analysis of Systems
This open access book constitutes the proceedings of the 29th International Conference on Tools and Algorithms for the Construction and Analysis of Systems, TACAS 2023, which was held as part of the European Joint Conferences on Theory and Practice of Software, ETAPS 2023, during April 22-27, 2023, in Paris, France. The 56 full papers and 6 short tool demonstration papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 169 submissions. The proceedings also contain 1 invited talk in full paper length, 13 tool papers of the affiliated competition SV-Comp and 1 paper consisting of the competition report. TACAS is a forum for researchers, developers, and users interested in rigorously based tools and algorithms for the construction and analysis of systems. The conference aims to bridge the gaps between different communities with this common interest and to support them in their quest to improve the utility, reliability, flexibility, and efficiency of tools and algorithms for building computer-controlled systems.
Fourth IFIP International Conference on Theoretical Computer Science - TCS 2006
The papers contained in this volume were presented at the fourth edition of the IFIP International Conference on Theoretical Computer Science (IFIP TCS), held August 23-24, 2006 in Santiago, Chile. They were selected from 44 pa pers submitted from 17 countries in response to the call for papers. A total of 16 submissions were accepted as full papers, yielding an acceptance rate of about 36%.
