From the infinitesimal scale of particle physics to the cosmic scale of the universe, research is concerned with the nature of mass. While there have been spectacular advances in physics during the past century, mass still remains a mysterious entity at the forefront of current research. Our current perspective on gravitation has arisen over millennia, through the contemplation of falling apples, lift thought experiments and notions of stars spiraling into black holes. In this volume, the world’s leading scientists offer a multifaceted approach to mass by giving a concise and introductory presentation based on insights from their respective fields of research on gravity. The main theme is ...
This book is history of 47 generations of our family. Complete with pedigree trees and individual data.
Frederick Arnst Folck was born before 1765 in West Virginia. He married Sophia Byers and they had at least four children. Material about many of his descendants is given in this volume. Descendants now live in Ohio, North Carolina, Florida, New Jersey, and elsewhere.
Raised By An Angel is the story of one man's journey from rural northeastern North Carolina to becoming a highly regarded educator and a much sought after speaker throughout the nation and beyond. His story spans the eighty years of his life to date. His writing follows his story-telling style. He characterizes himself as being an "edutainer" believing that education is better received when presented in an entertaining manner.
This 1982 book contains selected contributions presented at the Nuffield Quantum Gravity Workshop held at Imperial College, London, in August 1981.
The meeting in Birmingham, Alabama, provided a forum for the discussion of recent developments in the theory of ordinary and partial differential equations, both linear and non-linear, with particular reference to work relating to the equations of mathematical physics. The meeting was attended by about 250 mathematicians from 22 countries. The papers in this volume all involve new research material, with at least outline proofs; some papers also contain survey material. Topics covered include: Schrödinger theory, scattering and inverse scattering, fluid mechanics (including conservative systems and inertial manifold theory attractors), elasticity, non-linear waves, and feedback control theory.
