Blue Sparrows

INTRODUCTION Young Billy Sparrow receives a letter from an Australian Lawyer stating he is the sole heir to his late aunts Will. The Will provides free airfares from England to Australia for Billy and one other family member. Billys irascible, booze loving, Uncle Fred is coerced into accompanying him. In Brisbane, Billy discovers that he must reside on the Queensland Gemfields for at least six months to be eligible for a very large amount of money and the Deeds to a Rustic property. They travel to the dusty, rural town of Sapphire with Blue, their newly acquired, Gem-seeking dog, where they embark on a series of frequently hilarious and invariably drunken adventures. During their stay they experience true love, find valuable sapphires, make exceptional friends and suffer exceptional hangovers. The pair are left totally shocked when the time comes for Billy to collect his inheritance.

Blue Sparrow was born on Twitter. It's a compilation of my daily ramblings as a first time novelist encouraging myself and other writers to bite the bullet and do it despite the fear of blank paper, the insecurities, the angst every writer faces when left alone with the story and trying to bleed it out. My Twitter followers asked me to make it. They said they want to carry it around in their pockets and take it out each time they felt stuck, scared, or simply need to smile. Because people tell me my tweets are funny. You be the judge.

The original Blue Sparrow was born on Twitter. It's a compilation of my daily ramblings on writing and reading to encourage fellow writers to write. After it got published, my Twitter followers asked me to make the second book, with illustrations this time. So this is it. This book has 140 pages just like 140 characters in a tweet, each page adorned by an encouraging tweet like "There is no wrong way to write a novel. The only wrong way is not to write it." and an adorable drawing by illustrator Jeff Bergstrand. Happy writing!

How well do you know Jesus? I think about this often, and I always come to the same realization. I don't know Jesus anywhere near as well as I would like to know him. The desire is there, but life gets in the way. There are times when I seem to be making great progress, and other times when I wonder if I know him at all. But I always arrive back at the same inspiring and haunting idea: If there is one person that we should each get to know in a deeply personal way, it is Jesus the carpenter from Nazareth, the itinerant preacher, the Son of God, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, the Lamb of God, the new Adam, the Messiah, the Alpha and the Omega, the Chosen One, the Light of the World, the God-Man who wants good things for us more than we want them for ourselves, the healer of our souls. The best time to rediscover Jesus is right now. You are holding this book in your hand at this very moment for a reason. I don't know what God has in store for you, but I am excited for you.

The Seven Levels of Intimacy

We All Crave An Authentic Experience Of Intimacy. Though our hearts crave intimacy, though our minds understand our deep need for it, the self-revelation it requires is often too daunting a task. Complete and unrestrained sharing of self exposes the deepest human fear of being rejected for being ourselves. InThe Seven Levels of Intimacy,Matthew Kelly both acknowledges and calms our fears, while teaching us how to move beyond them to experience the power of true intimacy.Matthew reveals that each relationship is built upon a pattern of interaction. In the beginning stages, we rely on casual interactions, gaining familiarity by focusing on superficialities and facts. We grow closer and begin t...

Building Better Families

Matthew Kelly has been traveling the world inspiring people to become the-best-version-of-themselves. During this time he has been amazed at how regularly he is asked: How do I encourage my children to embrace this message? How does your message apply to a family? Kelly shares with us remarkable insights and sensible everyday strategies for transforming the family into what it should be: a place where each of us can become the-best-version-of-ourselves. In Building Better Families, Kelly explores important issues by raising evocative questions: What makes a successful parent? Do you realize that your children are in the middle of a cultural war? What are the five things children really need? Are you asking your children the right questions? What are you teaching your children about work, money, food, exercise, body image, and sex? What are the priorities of your family culture? Allow this book of classic wisdom and practical insight to help you build a better family.

"The Chinese garden has been explored from a variety of angles. Much has been written about its structural features as well as its cosmological, religious, philosophical, moral, aesthetic, and economic underpinnings. This book deals with the poetic configurations of the private garden in cities from the ninth to the eleventh century in relation to the development of the private sphere in Chinese literati culture. It focuses on the ways in which the new values and rhetoric associated with gardens and the objects found in them helped shape the processes of self-cultivation and self-imaging among the literati, as they searched for alternatives to conventional values at a time when traditional p...
