The book is focused on nanostructured materials, which have been well-studied in various fields from life to materials sciences. Nanostructured science has the potential to help make revolutionary discoveries based on modifying the properties of these materials compared with micro-structured materials. Nanostructured materials are the key to discovering new products based on new technologies. This book is focused on presenting new state-of-the-art methods for the synthesis and processing of nanostructured materials. These materials can be used in both in life and materials science with applications from biomedical devices, drug delivery systems, medical imaging with multiferoic materials, high-energy batteries, capacitors, superconductors, and aerospace components.

This book highlights the importance of hygiene in the food industry with regard to biofilms, which can be found on the contact materials of various food production facilities, including bakery, brewing, seafood processing, and dairy and meat processing. Good hygiene practices in such facilities can prevent microbial niches and harbourage sites, facilitate cleaning and disinfection, maintain or increase product shelf-life, and improve food safety. This book provides essential information on the updated information on biofilm growth conditions, detection methods, and prevention and control strategies.
Industry 4.0 and 5.0 applications will revolutionize production, enabling smart manufacturing machines to interact with their environments. These machines will become self-aware, self-learning, and capable of real-time data interpretation for self-diagnosis and prevention of production issues. They will also self-calibrate and prioritize tasks to enhance production quality and efficiency. Computational Intelligence in Industry 4.0 and 5.0 Applications examines applications that merge three key disciplines: computational intelligence (CI), Industry 4.0, and Industry 5.0. It presents solutions using Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technologies, augmented by CI-based techniques, modeling, ...
Biomaterials for Neural Tissue Engineering covers a range of materials and technologies used for regenerating or repairing neural tissue. With a strong focus on biomaterials and scaffolds, the book examines the testing and evaluation pathway for in-vitro and in-vivo testing trials. This book introduces the reader to the fundamentals of the nervous system from a tissue engineering perspective and goes on to describe contemporary technologies used in the development of neural repair materials, as well as currently available biomaterials suitable for neural tissue repair and regeneration. This detailed reference is ideal for those who are new to using biomaterials in tissue engineering, particu...
The use of medical devices (e.g., catheters, implants, and probes) is a common and essential part of medical care for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. However, these devices quite frequently lead to the incidence of infections due to the colonization of their abiotic surfaces by biofilm-growing microorganisms, which are progressively resistant to antimicrobial therapies. Several methods based on anti-infective biomaterials that repel microbes have been developed to combat device-related infections. Among these strategies, surface coating with antibiotics (e.g., beta-lactams), natural compounds (e.g., polyphenols), or inorganic elements (e.g., silver and copper nanoparticles) has bee...
Bringing together expert writings from diligent authors in the fields of nanobiomedicines, nanopharmaceuticals and herbal nanocosmeceuticals, this book pragmatically covers pharmacological, clinical, safety and regulatory aspects of herbal nanoproducts. It will assist curious minds and researchers in delving into, and capturing, holistic knowledge on this intriguing subject.
Nanobiomaterials in Hard Tissue Engineering covers the latest developments in the field of hard tissue engineering at the nanoscale. Leading researchers from around the world discuss the latest research and offer new insights. This book presents data about the fabrication and characterization of nanobiomaterials involved in hard tissue reconstruction, describing recent progress and the advantages of both conventional and computer-aided methods. Recent applications of different classes of nanobiomaterials are discussed, with in vitro and in vivo applications also explained in detail. Special attention is paid to the applications of nanobiomaterials in bone regeneration and in the development ...
Jews and Urban Life recognizes that throughout their long history, Jews have often inhabited cities. The reality of this urban experience ranged from ghetto restrictions to robust participation in a range of civic and social activities. Essays in this collection present relevant examples from within the Jewish community itself, moving historically from the biblical period to the modern-day State of Israel. Taking a comparative approach while recognizing the particulars of individual instances, authors examine these phenomena from a wide variety of approaches, genres, and media. Interdisciplinary and accessibly written, the articles display a multitude of instances throughout history showing the range of Jewish life in urban settings.
