This volume explores the relationship between Indigenous self-determination - specifically practices of law and governance - and Indigenous social and economic development.
A testimony to Indigenous resilience in business Despite investments in nation building, self-autonomy, and cultural resurgence, Indigenous economic development has remained an underexplored and underestimated area of research. Engraved on Our Nations overturns the discouraging deficit perspective too common in policy and academia and amplifies the largely undocumented history of successful Indigenous economic activity in Canada. Following David Newhouse’s overview of Indigenous economic history, the authors of this collection illustrate how First Nation and Métis individuals and communities have met and overcome an array of challenges. Our current students are digital natives, born into a world of widespread online sharing. Aligning the technologies we use in our courses with their skills and approaches to collaborative learning is an opportunity we should take. In spite of the robust development of venture capital that has occurred over the last three decades, returns from venture capital have been declining. This book focuses on a simple question: why? This is especially true as corporate governance and compensation structures may create significant misalignments, incongruities, and conflicts of interest between general and limited partners.

The choice to focus on specific practices of law and governance is a conscious rejection of i...
Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: Setting oneself on a predetermined course in unknown waters is the perfect way to sail straight into an iceberg.
