El tema del envejecimiento es total... absolutamente todo existe en el tiempo. A pesar de que la matemática rechaza la noción de que el tiempo pasa, la conciencia humana percibe el envejecimiento como consecuencia del paso del tiempo. Mediante textualizaciones en poesía, teatro y prosa, se pone de manifiesto el sentido y la complejidad de la percepción de esta trayectoria temporal. Por esta razón los artículos que contiene este libro son eminentemente eclécticos y revelan los pensamientos de poetas, cantantes, escritores, críticos literarios, psicólogos, sociólogos y antropólogos.

Ageing is an extremely personal process everybody cares about. In our contemporary world, it can also become a truly enriching adventure. Prime Time is a comedy that invites us to think of age identity, and especially of how we really wish to live our later years. Written by the ageing-studies scholar Núria Casado-Gual, this play premiered in October 2016 in Barcelona (Catalonia) at the closing conference of the European project "SIforAge". Its original production, by the company Nurosfera, received very successful performances at several Catalan theatres for more than one year. Understanding the Discourse of Aging
There are a number of books and articles covering particular facets of the topic of aging, such as the image of the elderly in the media, cinema, TV series and commercials, and in literature, which of course provide useful background material and references. However, these studies on aging discourse predominantly focus on a single discipline. This book adds a fresh perspective, by addressing the communicative practices surrounding age, aging and the elderly from a multidisciplinary perspective. The volume addresses several issues related to the discourse on aging, from the problems related to definitions of age to the image of the elderly in literature, cinema, and mass media, and gendered issues surrounding the aging process.
