Jason LeValley was a counselor at Tucson High from 2000 to 2011. After completing his story about a bullied girl who uses her incredible talent to rise above her tormenters, he sought a student-artist who could bring his characters to life in vivid fashion. Upon recommendation from a veteran studio art teacher, he chose 18 year-old senior Jennifer Schultz, who said she immediately identified with Caitlin, the story's main character. A lot of children go through the same experience the main character did, Schultz said.

On the eve of a yearlong transfer to Singapore, fabric designer Caitlin Adams threw caution to the wind. Spending a soulful night in the arms of sexy Andrew Sinclair made her want to put hard-won cynicism aside and believe in dreams of a future together. Until she discovered Andrew had lied to her about their chance encounter. A year later, only her cherished baby's face was a reminder of the man she was still trying to forget. Falling for a spirited woman like Caitlin was the last thing hard-headed businessman Andrew Sinclair meant to do, especially after she'd stormed out of his hotel room before he could explain himself. Now she's back in The States, and he's determined to be a father to their child, even if it means filing a custody suit to get her attention. Desperate to avoid a legal battle, Caitlin's only choice is to agree to live in his house for six months-time enough for him to bond with his son. But Andrew is about to learn that love can't be negotiated unless he's willing to make his heart part of the bargain. "How stubborn can one woman be? In this case very stubborn. I loved this book! I couldn't put it down." Romance Book Lover, electronic version, Amazon

Tracing Autism

In Tracing Autism, Des Fitzgerald offers an up-close account of the search for a neurological explanation of autism. As autism has gained cultural prominence with more diagnoses and more controversy, its biological causes remain elusive. Through in-depth interviews with neuroscientists, psychologists, and psychiatrists, Fitzgerald examines what it means to do scientific research in the ambiguous terrain of autism research, a field marked by shifting horizons of uncertainty and ambivalence. He draws out how autism scientists talk and feel their way through their research, demonstrating its profoundly affective character, and expanding our understanding of what is at stake in the new brain sciences.

The Streets of Louth offers an A-Z history of virtually every road within the town, from ancient streets such as Upgate and Mercer Row through to modern residential developments such as Anthony Crescent. Designed for the general reader and anyone who has ever wondered how the streets of Louth have changed and developed over time, it not only looks at the archaeology, buildings and businesses of each of the individual streets, but also the people who used to live on them, from brewers and fish fryers through to jewellers and prostitutes. The book also makes use of local court reports from the nineteenth century to bring the Victorian history of the streets of Louth alive, with crimes and accidents recorded that range from the mundane to the truly shocking!

In a small town in the 1950s, a bewildered little girl is growing up. Ostracised because of her colour, she tries her best to fit in, but nobody wants anything to do with her. Meanwhile, a nanny climbs the steps of a smart London address. She's convinced that her connection to the family behind the door is more than professional. And on the walls of an English stately home, amongst the family portraits, hangs an eighteenth-century oil painting of a mysterious black woman in a silk gown. In ways both poignant and unexpected, the three lives are intertwined in a heartbreaking story of prejudice and motherless children, of chances missed, of wartime secrets and the search for belonging.
