En este libro que hemos titulado COEDUCACIÓN Y VIOLENCIA DE GÉNERO ofrecemos siete textos de expertos y expertas en la temática abordada que nos ofrecen sus conocimientos desde el debate teórico académico y/o la práctica profesional. Con la convicción de que la erradicación de la violencia de género pasa por la consecución de la igualdad entre mujeres y hombres y ello sólo se consigue a través de la socialización y la educación igualitaria, apostamos por la formación coeducativa y la necesaria implicación de los medios de comunicación y las administraciones locales, supralocales y educativas. Es por ello, por lo que en los dos primeros capítulos, sus autoras reflexionan sobre las práctica de la coeducación en las aulas, centrándose en casos de la provincia de Alicante (España) para, adentrarnos en los siguientes textos, en diversas temáticas y actuaciones relacionadas con la violencia de género.

Stuffing the Ballot Box
Stuffing the Ballot Box is a pioneering study of electoral fraud and reform. It focuses on Costa Rica, a country where parties gradually transformed a fraud-ridden political system into one renowned for its stability and fair elections by the mid-twentieth century. Lehoucq and Molina draw upon a unique database of more than 1,300 accusations of ballot-rigging to show that parties denounced fraud where electoral laws made the struggle for power more competitive. They explain how institutional arrangements generated opportunities for executives to assemble legislative coalitions to enact far-reaching reforms. This book also argues that nonpartisan commissions should run elections and explains why splitting responsibility over election affairs between the executive and the legislature is a recipe for partisan rancour and political conflict. Excellence in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education
The initial ‘idea’ for the book emerged during the seminar Sharing of Innovative Pedagogical Practices that occurred at the University of Coimbra (Portugal) in 2018. Like all ‘good ideas’, this one originated in a conversation between colleagues from the University of Coimbra and the University of West London in the United Kingdom. The ‘idea’ of this book was to move away from sharing experiences related to teaching and learning in higher education in just one or two countries, but instead to organise a more European view about the policy, research and teaching practices that are shaping the way our students learn, academics teach and do research. We have a total of 16 chapters from academics in Portugal, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, and the Czech Republic. The book is organised in four interrelated themes: (1) policy and quality; (2) professionalisation of teaching and academic development; (3) research and teaching nexus; and (4) pedagogy and practice. Imperial Borderlands
What are the institutions which govern border spaces and how do they impact long-term economic and social development? This book focuses on the Habsburg military frontier zone which originated in the sixteenth century as an instrument for protecting the empire's southern border against the threat of the Ottoman Empire and which lasted until the 1880s. The book outlines the conditions under which this extractive institution affected development, showing how locals were forced to work as soldiers and exposed to rigid communal property rights, an inflexible labor market, and discrimination when it came to the provision of public infrastructure. While the formal institutions set up during the military colony disappeared, their legacy can be traced in political attitudes and social norms even today with the violence and abuses exercised by the imperial government transformed into distrust in public authorities, limited political involvement, and low social capital.
