The Daily Telegraph has a reputation for outstanding obituaries. This book contains the best and most colourful obituaries of clergyment in recent years, selected and introduced by Trevor Beeson, former Dean of Winchester. Ranging from Monsignor Alfred Gilbey who weekly rode to hounds in frock coat and gaiters to Brian Brindley who died surrounded by his acolytes in the midst of a five course dinner at The Atheneum. This book is highly entertaining but Trevor Beeson's extended introduction also evaluates the clerical tradition and make some fairly piercing comments about the state of the Churches today.

Tough Decisions places readers in realistic composites of cases the authors have actually seen or managed where they must make tough medical decisions. What happens in them often depends on the reader's decisions and thus gives a sense of pressures that bear on clinical-decision making.

The House of my Friends is the nearest Eric James will get to an autobiography. He left school -in Dagenham, Essex- at fourteen, when the Second World War broke out, and went to work for seven years at a riverside wharf on the Thames where the Globe Theatre now stands. After ordination, he became chaplain of Trinity College, Cambridge, and thereby became associated with some of the most famous and influential clerics of his generation; Mervyn Stockwood, John Robinson (author of the bestseller Honest to God), Robert Runcie and Trevor Huddleston. James was made chaplain to H.M. the Queen in 1984 and was preacher to Gray's Inn from 1978-97, as well as Director of Christian Action from 1979-90 a...
